UPDATED: JAN 31, 2009 Pours gold an clear with a brilliant white head. Smells of dry malt, a touch of lingering wild yeast, some pepper, some perfume. Tastes dry with a nice bitter hint, lots of spicy hints, touches of salt. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is peppery.

330ml bottle from Gambrinus in London. pours slightly hazed golden with a lasting white head. hoppy aroma with pils malt body and some funky rustic barnyard elements. flavour starts hoppy, the malt is lean and crisp, the funkiness is there but its subtle. crazy drinkable. best session beer on the planet.

Bottle. Drank it in Brugges. How could I not give the baby brother of the other Westies a perfect score. The best I have had of this "style". If one can find it, drink it.

In bottiglia al Gambrinus di Bruges; per me, la migliore birra al mondo. Secca, floreale, dissetante, un finale amaro fantastico. Da bere a litri. Restasse solo una birra al mondo, vorrei fosse questa.

Alright folks, to all of you who love the 12, the 8/BLonde is AMAZING. I loved it. It had a sour flavor with some sweet wheat attached. I loved it, If I could have gotten 10 crates to bring home I would have in a heartbeat. It’s wonderful stuff. It was just amazingly unique beer. I would not pay tons for it if I could get it in the USA, but it’s still great and worth a try for sure.

May sound a bit strange, but the best Westvleteren in my opinion. Tastes different with every sip, the yeast aromas are completely overwhelming, the head is everlasting... insofar no difference to the Acht and Twaalf, granted. It’s unmatched because it doesn’t satiate too much.
