COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Westvleteren Blond is the basic beer for the monks’ own consumption, since 1999, when the former 6° dark ale (red cap) was finally discarded, after the 4° had already gone that path.

Appearence: Golden semi-cloudy color. Big head, white, some rocky and very lasting. Aroma: dominated for the pale malts, the yeast and the hops with herbal smells and lightly citric. Notes of bubble gum, grass, grapefruits and flowers of chamomile. Flavor: pale malts from the start, some ephemeral, with quickly progress of the hops with herbal notes, medium dryness, also lasting and with a "elegant" touch. Fruity reminiscences like grapefruits, unripe pineapple and some of eucalyptus and ruta. The yeast has a harmony presence. Palate: medium body, silky texture and low carbonation. Remarks: with the "elegance, harmony and balance" characteristics of the Westy, nice-delicate hoppiness, without high complexity but it exists. Very good blond beer.

Dark fruits on the nose. Quite sweet tasting, typical yeast flavours and some spice. Enjoyed it, was easy to drink and flavoursome.

Another great westy beer. Bready, biscuit heavy, with some appa joose, grass, and white bread. Lightly sweet with some light noble hop bite. Good beer.

Bottle. Hazy copper color with a medium thick head. Some lacing. Medium aroma of apricot and ripe mandarin with notes of yeast and wheat. Medium dry taste with some sourness. Some bitterness in finish. Medium body. Balanced package.

Bu en bouteille de 33cl, une couleur blonde très chouette et une mousse intense, petite odeur de fer (capsule ?) au nez, puis attaque en bouche sur le houblon noble, décevant

A little old bottle. Stumble upon it in the summer of 2013. Bottle reads 13.09.13 and this is the best before date i thinck. I’m guessing it was bottled a year before. Clear yellow nice looking color. Taste of yeast and spices. Must try this one more time fresh.

Bottle cap numbers 21.03.14 graciously sent along in trade from Orson0368! Great excuse to break out the trappist glass! Pour has a wheat color with a thick coating of off white head that settled down to a pillow on the surface. Aroma has pale malts, mild sweet fruit, Belgian yeast, and a hint of spices. Mouth feel is light and there is plenty of carbonation. Flavor Has a very light pale malt, trappist yeast, mild herbal hops, and grains. The beer is gentle overall but has all the characteristics of a well made trappist beer. Dialed right down to a super session level.

Golden color, hazy, generous white head (fine foam), aroma of malt and hops, medium bodied. It starts with malt. Then, the hops and the bitterness appears. Longish bitter finish.

Bottle from Beer Mania. A though beer, not too much to pick up on, if you dig hard you get some dough, wheat, solvent, grass, dandelion and detergent.
