Bright mahogany but something deep about it. Ruby red more like it. Big beige head. On the nose, some apples, cinnamon and a little smoke. Creamy, frothy and with really attractive lacing on the glass. I couldn’t get over that. Taste was very generous with caramel and toast, a little biscuity character on the finish. Overall one of the best Belgian Strong Ales I’ve had in a long time. Thanks John! jesperhammer (290), Copenhagen, Denmark

Bottle at Ølfestivalen.
First beer tasted, and a good start:-)
Off-white head on a brownish colout.
Very malty with figs and charamel.
Typical belgian. Very easy drinkability, and carbonation is not as high as feared. Long aftertaste.
Really good beer.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 16, 2009 The unlabeled bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass also. Starts modest malty, a little bit alcoholic, not too intense. Finish mild, notes of marzipan, warming. Harmonic aftertaste. Really good, but not as good as exspected. Thanks to HenrikSoegaard for the bottle! GranvilleTim (476), Granville, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 15, 2009 Reddish-brown color with light tan head. Very bubbly-overflowing at opening. Dark fruit aroma with hints of sweet malt and yeast. Dark fruit flavor, sweet dry finish. Gets even tastier as it warms up. The flavors get more distinguishable as it does warm up. Aroma was strongly alcoholic rotten peaches and other dark fruits with a certain tobacco juice note. Flavor was much the same, with bit of bitterness and an astringency. Palate was dry and a bit bitter. Extremely complex, and definetly compelling and interesting, but not quite my thing. garthicus (1273), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

I can’t believe it and I’m eternally grateful. Appearance: Ruby red with a small off white/brown head. Aroma: Nutty, caramel, prunes/dark fruit, yeast, slight wine notes, some chocolate and a lovely spice finish. Flavour: Wow, pepper and yeast, prunes , bitter, smooth, I’d happily drink pints of this. Just a tremendous Belgian Strong Ale, a joy to have, a beautiful long caramel, candy, yeast-spiced finish. Thanks so so much Paul. A joy to have. BgThang (118), Texas, USA

This beers is a bright yellow with a very big head. The nose is spice, fruit, and some cloves.
This is definitely a good beer just from the nose. As you drink it, the light airy bubbles stream down making this a great tasting beer.
