Pours a solid brown-red with a creamy light tan head. Aromas of bready malt, dark fruits and yeast come through along with a slightly musty odor. Flavor of rasins, sweet malt, yeast, candied dark fruits...cherry really comes to mind and some subtle smokiness. Smooth mouth feel with an even carbonation...dry and sweet rhoughout with a dry/sweet finish. Really nice. mreusch (715), Olathe, Kansas, USA Mar 21, 2007 Bottle, pours a cloudy brown with a tan foamy head, good lacing. Yeasty aroma of apricot, dark fruits and light spice. Malty taste with yeast overtones, very smooth on the palate, overall a stellar beer. To me this one is better than the Westy 12, and lives up to the hype very nicely. drpimento (796), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Mar 19, 2007 mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Velvety chocolate, hints of alcohol, very nice big foamy head with lace. hazy amber brown. mouth filling super easy to drink. strangely rich yet kind of a session beer. rock my world. bittersweet gentle longlasting finish. yeasty but not overly bitter, malty but not overly so. so much going on but nothing overly so except in aggregate. Oh baby.
won’t even tell you where I got it. elektronikfagteknikerlærling (892), kbh, Denmark Mar 19, 2007 bottle. very dark brown color. malty sweet caramelly aroma. very roasty yeast. some dark fruits and spices. nice qual. LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 12, 2007 Acquired through trade through the generous Maria. Delicious as expected. Not on an entirely different level for a Belgian Strong...but close. Nice brown pour with a thick off white puffy head with little lacing. Aroma of fruit and yeast. Taste is clean and crisp with no alcohol present. Dates, plums, and raisins with just the right carbonation. Ending is creamy and light. Great! JJClark (545), Roscoe, Illinois, USA Mar 11, 2007 Bottle from the Belgianshoppe.com.
Pours a rich dark reddish brown color with a huge frothy head. Plenty of malt in the flavor with plums, dates, raisn and figs making their presence known as well. The alcohol is almost completely hidden is this jewel. Has a bit of a hop taste in the finish with a lingering of flavor of caramel on the tongue. Nicely balanced, complex beer.
