Bottle, courtesy of SinH4. Not a double, not a triple, but it would fit well. Very sweet and boozy, all well done. Very very nice, but clearly not Top 30 as its listed here.

Brown color with tan head. Aroma is candied sugar, caramel malt, spicy yeasts, but not too sweet. Something dusty lying below. Taste is caramel, bananas and apricots (very Belgian), with that spicy fruity finish. Some rhum elements in there. Very good for what it is, and it doesn?t even have too much carbonation.

Drinking this while at In De Vrede on 9/12/15. Well, i actually might like this more than Westy 12. Body is a much lighter color than 12, but still a nice dark caramel color. What I really like about it though is the mig malted barley aroma I’m getting. Also nice fresh hop smell. Taste, this beer is very balanced. Caramel malts meld perfectly with the slightly bitter hops. Not my favorite beer of all time, but probably what I would call the perfect beer.

Pours deep violet brown with a large off-white head which recedes to a layer of foam about a finger deep. Aroma is raisins, toffee, slight apple, slight rum and dates. Taste is raisins, dark berries, slight dark berry tartness, dusty, slight caramel sweet.

Bottle at home whilst watching Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones. Pours darkest Brown with a shade of Red. Beige head to boot. Aroma is a knockout. Full of Belgian promise. Dark fruit, candi sugar and doughy caramel. It’s well rounded and delicious. Not to the point that it ought to be priced out of the market though. The film is way better than I remember..

Capolavoro belga.

(Westvleteren Extra 8) Bottle 330 ml at home, seems I have received it in a trade, so thanks to whoever sent it! Served into a big tulip. ABV 8% Dark brown colour on the body, very tall and thick, soapy, tan head on top, with very good retention. Murky body. Nice aroma of dark fruits, light yeast, some caramel. Unique taste, haven’t tasted a belgian dark ale like that before, lots of dark fruits, light perfume, yeast, caramel, light vanilla-like flavours, berries. Medium body, carbonation on the high side. Good.

Many thanks to Rian for this little beauty. Dark mahogany with a rocky beige head. Rich rich aroma of malt, plums, and raisins with a lovely silky, candy infused effervescent palate. Huge malt, warming alcohol, some berry fruit and a subtle dry earth bitterness. Distinctive house yeast. Wonderfully complex.
