Westvleteren has the smallest output of the Trappist breweries, with only a small part of their production going very far into the world.

Aldus Huubs. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl. Thanks Gem! Pours an opaque dark brown with a lasting film of bubbles. Aromas of nearly-scalded dark toffee, earthy honey with the comb, and a touch of lemon hard candy. Tastes of earthy toffee, dark whole grain bread, figs, lemon honey, minty-wooden hops and a bit of unsweetened baker’s chocolate. The yeast (and maybe some spice adjuncts?) do a great job of guiding the big malts to a dry finish. Medium-heavy body has medium-high carbonation and a nice balance. Just a touch of the 8% is apparent.

Een heel lekker bier, maar tegenover de andere 2 Westvleterens voor mij persoonlijk de minste van de 3

Bottle thanks to Mike. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is a strong raisin, wood, fruit. Medium mouthfeel with strong raisin, bready malt. Very impressive.

Red/brown color with good head, light sweet/fruity aroma, sweet taste with red and dried fruit (raisins), light caramel malt & coffee notes, very smooth body, silk, and carbonation, i’m sorry because when i open the bottle, a part of beer is lost for excessive carbonation of moment (the biggest i ever see!! I don’t know why, because the bottle was for many months in the same place)... Absolutely not bad beer! but, i think this one most intense beer...

Muddied bright brown, off white head. Weird lemon gristle and over chewed bubblegum nose. Soft chunky plum, stewed pineapple and uncrunched pine nuts. Flies very drinkable sweetness, 2009 vintage soft and no real hop bite. Sweet and melted finish.

Pours a muddy brown color with beige head. Definitely don’t drink this straight from the fridge as more aromas and flavors come out when it warmed up a bit. Not necessarily my candidate for one of the best beers in the world, but a solid beer nonetheless.

At the source. Small beige head. Hazy dark brown. Yeasty, candi sugar, fruitiness. I prefer this one compared to the 12, more balanced.
