crizay (1070), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA Aug 22, 2007 Big thanks to JJPM74. Dark mahogany pour, big almond head. Aroma is perfumy but light. Flavor is candi sugar, lots of caramel, brown sugar, molasses, perfumy with a good amount of floral hops. Oak and woody with chocolate and some smoke as it warms. Lots of dark berries with mainly a sweet sugary and perfumy taste with some roastiness in the background. Good beer but I do prefer the 12 this was like a subdued version.
Kalli (402), Falun, Sweden Aug 4, 2008 [Archive] Some vague dark fruit and cellary aroma. Somewhat like a dryer Chimay Bleue. Dark chocolate and... raisins? emotv (191), Izmir, Turkey Aug 3, 2008 Another amazing beer finally i found it from Beer Temple Brusells by my friend Oğuz Can Yıldırım. He brings ,t all the way from Belgium to Turkey. I tried and tried in Bruseels but couldn’tfind this great beer but finally done. Acidy taste, Sweet and softy touch, Dark colour tan. Like a diaomond from a craft master. Long finish. Amazing beer. Ober (255), Best, Netherlands Aug 2, 2008 A dark brown colored beer, with a big, thick beige foamy head. It leaves a nice lace on the glass. The aroma is malty, some hop dark fruits with chocolate. The taste is from nice sweet chocolate with raisins, prune and some spices. It has a bland warm aftertaste. A very good beer. kpresley77 (56), Jackson, Georgia, USA Jul 31, 2008 Bottle courtesy of fonefan, pours dark brown with foamy white head. Apperance is almost like a deep red wine. Aroma is sweet dark fruits. First taste is sweet with just enough carbonation. Very clean dry finish. I did not know what to expect from this beer, and now I see why this is rated one of the highest. mvcramer (191), Arlington, Massachusetts, USA Jul 30, 2008 Thanks to Marisa for sharing this one after my incessant begging for a full year... The 12 is a bit better, but my god you can’t go wrong with this one. Diminishing the 8 at the expense of the 12 is like speaking poorly about your Ferrari because your Lamborgini is better. The 8 is an exceptional beer in its own right. Gorgeous chocolate brown pour with a thick foamy tan head which lasts a long time and leaves beautiful lacing on the glass. Aroma and flavors are perfectly consistent and incredibly complementary of each other - candied sugar and dried fruits (plum, raisin, date...). Absolutely exquisite. Grab a bottle if and when you have a chance. Truly a gem of a beer.
