4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 davidpl (435) - Santiago, - APR 2, 2009Appearance: dark amber to brown color. Huge head, beige, dense and lasting.
Aroma: semi-roasted, a lots of ripe-read fruits like raisins, figs and berries. A woody hit and vanilla. Vinous nose.
Flavor: complex-multivariate start flavors, but all of them very balanced and harmonious. Toasted malts in an exact quantity, reminiscences of chocolate, caramel, dark raisins, figs and dried peaches. Nice mature and vinous touches, also, oporto. A bit of wood, tobaco and dried fruits. Lasting and semi-resinous hoppy note.
Palate: medium body and velvety texture. Low carbonation.
Remark: Great beer, complex, harmonious and wonderfully balanced.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 czar (2392) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 17, 2013
bottle shared by fred82, thanks! end of life bottle. pours almost clear copper with a decent light beige head, some retention. minty caramel, spices, funk and cherries, pepper, some coconut. bright to average carbonation, light body and lightly boozy. obviously infected and very few remaining sugars.. still quite nice and really enjoyable but would like to taste it again for an accurate rating.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Christian (9845) - Odense, DENMARK - JUN 15, 2013
Cafe in de Vrede, April 2013, fresh comparison of all three Westvleteren. Hazy brown with a lasting tan head. Aroma of caramel, dark sugar, chocolate and dried fruit, plum and prunes, and a touch of spice. Sweet malty flavour with caramel, toffee and nuts, along with a spicy touch. Well balanced flavour

Veel van verwacht, niet uiterst speciaal, voor mij gewoon als ieder ander dubbel bier.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 dnicolaescu (155) - Chișinău, MOLDOVA - JUN 5, 2013
Head: beige, medium, frothy, avg. retention. Colour: dirty dark brown, cloudy.
Aroma: dried fruit, raisins, sourish berries, almond. Taste: moderate sweetness, dried fruit, light roasty bitterness, warming alcohol, spicy. The body is medium (and lighter than expected).
A nice rich beer, but a bit overrated.

Color: dark caramel beer with small brown head and no carbonization. Smell: caramel, malt, wheat and rye bread. Taste: strong caramel and malt aroma, with spices, easy to drink and really floral. Aftertaste: wheat, malt and bread.

Bottle at home. Had many bottles before but this is my first rate. Hazy but brown copper colour thin whispy cream head. Aroma of bubblegum raisin with toasty notes. Flavour is rich and deep raisin bread caramel . some apples. Crisp really dry finish. Nice Belgian yeast profile. Yum.

My favourite Westvleteren beer. Intensely rich in flavour, aroma and palate with a pleasant lingering taste.

bottled. A precious and kind gift from Cuso for my thirsty-five b(eer)-day. Thank you so much! This is Belgian beer perfection! Not so sweet as Rochefort beers which my wife is drinking now parallel to me so I can compare a bit. Overall this beer is utterly fantastic!
