4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared with tupalev & jerc - big thanks to blankboy for the bottle! Ah, so nice to be able to finally complete the Westy trifecta! Pours a slightly hazy mahogany with a sizable tan head that leaves lot of lacing. Aroma is floral and herbal, yeasty and funky, with notes of tea and almond and bread. Flavour is full and complex, with notes of herbal tea (camomile?), rye bread, vanilla, and dry citrus to finish. I knew it was going to be good, but I didn’t expect it to be so interesting and unique. Lovely stuff!

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle split with the family. Aroma is dates, nuts, and mince pie. Pours hazy brown with great carbonation and a big fast head. Taste is dates, banana peel, pistachios, and vodka (without the booze). Wonderfully complex and not overbearing on the clovey Belgian yeast. Super easy to take down and remarkably delicious. This was not over-hyped.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Presque pas de mousse, nez alcoolisé et soupçon de vanille. Entrée de bouche agréable et douce. Ronde et bonne persistance en bouche. Très agréable, très bien équilibré et très bonne. Une valeur sûre.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown colour, murky. Beige big head. Had lumps of yeast (and?) at the bottom of the bottle. Strong rich flavour of a monastery beer multiplied by ten. Enjoyable.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Bottle with date 16/5/15. Oppressive aroma of candy and sheep leather like an old pauillac. Easier to drink than the 12 with still a perfect balance. This batch is indeed better than the 2 Westvleteren 12 opened in the same tasting.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown, big white head. Raisins, plums, caramel, syrup, some liquorice. Medium sweetness, light bitterness towards the end. Very complex and balanced, alcohol doesn’t hit quite as strongly as with the WV12, therefore is perhaps even better. Could well be the best among the Trappist beers.
