3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Swaroga (788) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAY 9, 2013
33cl bottle. Hazy brown with medium, ivory grey head. Nose : toffee, cooked cherries and multitude of other fruits like apples for example, tart, yeast. Sip : oily and smooth. Good carbonation. The sip is warming. It's sweet and fruity. It has fruity and spicy background. I understand the fuss about it and for some reasons I might even say I prefer this one then the 12. Great beer.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TET (1092) - FINLAND - MAY 9, 2013
BBE 17.08.15, quite new bottle. A dark brown beer with a medium and beige head. Aroma starts with dark fruit and some green and sour apples, spices, some sweetness, with yeast also some bananas. Taste is quite dry, dark fruits, lots of spices, earthyness and some sourness. Medium bodied, high carbonation, still nice and smooth to drink. Good beer, but not the climax, dark fruits with some sourness and mystic of Trappist.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 gEUS (573) - Linden, BELGIUM - MAY 8, 2013
330 ml bottle - tasted at numerous occasions. A bit more complex than the 12, more balanced sour-sweet complexity. Aromas and taste of malts, caramel, earthy notes are more complex than the 12. But there are better beers. Overhyped, but not as much as the 12 :-).

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 _angst_ (1743) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 5, 2013
330 ml bottle received as a bonus when shopping @ beerplanet.be. Pours very hazy chestnut brown with a frothy creamy beige head that is rather quick to dissipate while leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with crackers, oatmeal cookies, cereal, raisins, figs, sweet dark bread, golden syrup, bilberry jam and hints of alcohol. Taste is sweet, very tiny bitter, tiny fruity and malty witch crackers, cereal, oatmeal cookies, sweet dark bread, golden syrup, biscuits, pureed prunes, raisins, figs, pancakes with bilberry jam, honey and hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is smooth, soft, round and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, tiny bitter, very tiny tart, fruity and malty with crackers, cereal, oatmeal cookies, biscuits, prunes, raisins, lemon zest, wood, figs and alcohol. Expertly crafted incredibly balanced beer but there always seems to be something I find myself missing when trying the Westvleteren beers. Perhaps it’s just the legendary hype that is hard to live up to.
