Had it across from the abbey at In de Vrede. Pours a dark brown colour, very cloudy with a creamy tan head. Aroma is subtle with dates and other dark fruits, a slight malt character and yeast scents. Taste is mild, not too bitter or sweet and really balanced. Medium bodied, smooth on the palate and lively carbonation. Awesome beer, almost as good as the 12.

The aroma of yeast and raisins. Much alcohol, yeast, raisins and a little caramel taste. Not so good bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth for a long time. Very much carbonic acid. The alcohol makes the beer becomes difficult to drink. Do not live up to their expectations, unfortunately, as the world’s best Belgian ale. Pours dirty brown with a small white fizz. Aroma is raisin, plum and earthy malt with loads of yeast floaties. Taste is nice and complex, raisin, plum, caramel and yeasty back. Nice sipper.

Mörkt brun. En härlig doft och ett djup i smakerna. Lite söt, lite skumbanan, toffee. En öl jag skulle kunna dricka ofta, men det blir både krångligt och dyrt! Weltklasse! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dimmigt mahognybrun med ihållande fint beige-färgat skum. Doftar karamell och malt. Smaken tämligen besk och torr. Eftersmaken nästan bitter, men lång. Drucken på plats i Westvleteren.

330ml bottle: Pours dark brown with a fizzy tan head that clears. Aroma of stone fruit, toffee, slight caramel. Tastes of dark stone fruits with a slight caramel note as well. Very complex but well balanced. Finishes drier than I expected. Fairly bitter with a clean finish. Medium bodied, medium to low carbonation. Overall an absolute peach.

330ml bottle (thanks FatPhilomon Go). Clear dark chestnut color. Small size, off-white head, stays. Raisins, yeasty, alcohol, malty, sweet in aroma. Alcoholic, sweet, raisins, earthy and slightly metallic in taste. Some plasticy elements too. Sweet, yeasty and faint metallic in aftertaste. Sweet and boozy. Distant hops give nice dry mouthfeel and soft bitterness. Soft carbonation. Way too sweet and boozy brew.
