TomDecapolis (2481), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA May 15, 2008 Updated: Jun 16, 2008Re-rated from a bottle. Also had it on draft at Weyerbacher. Overall...way better than the firkin I had originally. Pours a hazy golden orange with a large foamy/bubbly off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of fresh citrus, some banana, bready and some Belgian yeast esters. Flavor of a load of citrus, orange really coming through, fresh hops, light pine, some banana, Belgian yeast esters, light spicy notes and yeast. Not sure if they used any American hops in this but I’m sure getting it in the taste and even the aroma a bit. Well done and way better on tap/out of the bottles. I think the firkin was the spent yeast from this beer!
Poured from a growler thanks to egajdzis that was filled at the Drafting Room from a firkin. Pours a milky orange...heck this thing looked just like a yeast starter with a small bubbly white head that went away to nothing quickly. Aroma of sulfur, banana, citrus notes, clove, Belgian yeast, bready notes and some tropical fruits. Flavor of banana, clove, Belgian yeast esters, lost of yeast, light tropical fruits and light sulfur in flavor also.
6-2-6-3-11 = 2.8 jason (1509), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 25, 2008 Samples at the Weyerbacher Release Party. Nice golden body with a decent head. Aroma is earthy with some hops and spices. Flavor is smooth, light spices and yeast. Afull bodied mouthfeel with a clean taste that goes down too easy. They need to make this more available. JB175 (1356), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 8, 2008 Bottle. Orange color with a thicker whitish head. Aroma is bright and fruit filled - orange, lemon, coriander, and assorted spices. Flavor has some nice citrus hops, belgian yeast, and a unique farmhouse-ish/candy malts. Really nice flavor until a strange aftertaste creeps in at the end. Pleasant and tangy mouthfeel. I like it, but for the per bottle price, I might as well get a real Belgian pale ale. I do hope they put this one in the regular rotation! DocLock (4170), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 28, 2008 Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy dark straw with off-white head. Nose is funky, hoppy, with some spicy yeasty and fruity notes. The flavor is funky and hopcitris at first, giving way to some late mid-palate cobwebby esters and earthy spicy yeasty notes. Pretty smooth and rich, and very enjoyable from beginning to end. pineypower (892), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Jun 13, 2008 Sample at Weyerbacher. Poured out a cloudy golden color with a small head, slight lacing. Aroma of citrus fruits and some banana. Taste is complex and well balanced, banana, yeast, citrus and some resiny hop in there as well. Wish I could have picked up a few bottles of this, but I tapped out most of the funds on the Riserva.
