COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aries is the 3rd installment in the latest round of Brewer’s Select series beers. It’s a blend of our Old Heathen Imperial Stout and our Imperial Pumkin Ale.

Known around the brewey as "Black & Orange," the mix is generally credited to our sales representative, Mike Lubieski, as a way of supporting the Philadelphia Flyers, his favorite hockey team.

12 oz. bottle thanks to my brother. Pours dark, almost like a cola. Very brief tan foam, vigorous. Aroma of pumpkin, spices and alcohol. The pumpkin really comes through to me. Warming alcohol in the finish. Glad I had it, probably won't go for it again. Not bad but for special occasions. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Near black with small head. Average stout with done pumpkin and spice. Strong nutmeg. Not bad, but nothing special.

Location: Draft at HopsScotch, 2/7/15

Aroma: The nose has pumpkin spice, dark malts, spice, and some caramel.
Appearance: This one has a brown-black pour, creamy brown head, heavy/coating lacing.
Flavor: The taste is a mix of pumpkin spice, dark malts, caramel, light spice bitterness.
Palate: It is medium-full bodied, rather creamy and smooth, with a lightly dry finish.
Overall Impression: I liked the way this one worked quite a bit. The Big 10 has some terrible refs. Wow. Somehow you poke a guy in the eye and get a free 5-4 possession. Awful. Anyway, I like this beer.

Pours almost pitch black with some brown hues and a one finger tan head with excellent lacing. Aroma is of pumpkin meats, pie spice, roasted malts, dark chocolate, caramel, and molasses. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma. Has a medium body with a creamy mouthfeel and a mostly sweet, medium-long finish. Overall, a tasty and interesting mix of two Weyerbacher’s better beers.

4oz on tap at Brass Tap Cincinnati. Up front, I get a lot of pumpkin spice, and roast malts.. Kind of like Warlock, but much, much less sweet. More towards the spectrum of Epic’s pumpkin stout, really (that is a good thing). Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter, and a moderate level of fall spiciness. Dark brown red color, kinda clear. Thin khaki head, bits of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of chewy, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick. Good stuff. Pretty much what you’d expect from the blend cited. Reminds me of a slightly more bitter Epic Ferm (less portery, more assertive of course). I dig it. Maybe more so than the regular Weyer pumpkin, if I was to rerate now. Good dark pumpkin stout. Worth seeking out.

Pours a dark black with no head or lacing, looks like a coke. Smells to me like a blue toilet tablet. Taste of Medicine and yes a blue toilet tablet. Despite all the ticket talk it’s an ok beer.

This poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of mainly pumpkin and spices, light stout roast. Flavor was certainly more pumpkin, light stout character, thin and boozy.

Part of a flight at World of Beer Tioga. Pours pitch black with a small khaki head. Aroma of, you guessed it, overly zealous nutmeg, and the rest of the spice rack, maybe a bit of roasty cocoa. Flavor follows with what is mostly just a mouthful of nutmeg. Tastes just like it’s described: they mixed an overly spiced pumpkin beer with a mediocre stout. And what do you get? A less enjoyable mediocre stout. Mouthfeel is on the thin side for an Impy, with medium carbonation and no viscosity. When are they going to stop pumpkin spicing everything?

Draft... This beer rocks!... Pitch black pour with a small, creamy, cappuccino head that doesn’t dissipate. Smells like a blend of pumpkin meat, roasted chocolate, black malts and mild winter spice. Full-bodied and lightly creamy with feather-soft carbonation. The flavor is a semi-sweet, rich blend of roasted malts, graham and pumpkin. Deeply roasted, mineral finish. World class beer!

Pours dark brown, almost reddish with a thin brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, roast, pumpkin and spice. Taste is bitter with a touch of sweetness, the spices come through nicely. Medium bodied, smooth with light carbonation. Very enjoyable.

At gingerman. The aroma is mainly pumkin, roast. The flavor is mostly pumpkin as well, some roast, some chalk. Deep brown/black, tan head. Medium in body. Chalky, pumpkin, pine finish. Decent, not great.
