COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Auriga is the 4th installment in the Northern Hemisphere Constillation Brewers’ Select Series. Auriga is a American Stout: slightly roasty with a dry finish. Good hop flavor, thanks to plenty of Delta hops (a Cascade / Fuggles hybrid) in the kettle and whirlpool. Vienna forms the entire base malt with lots of Caramunich, roasted barley and chocolate malt for flavor and color and the mouthfeel and head retention are compliments of oats and wheat. 6.5% ABV, 44 IBU. Fantastic cool weather beer.

Tap. Moderate to heavy toasted and dark chocolate, light to moderate resin and herbs for the hops, moderate earth for the yeast, with cola, whiskey and a hint of tar. Head is small, creamy, tan with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, dry with a soft carbonation and a moderately alcoholic and chewy finish. An impressive Stout with a sharp bite.

On draft poured into a pub pint glass at McGlynns Pub in Bear Delaware. Beer pours very dark brown with a khaki 2 finger head that recedes slowly leaving much lacing. This is a malt forward stout with lots of the dark malt characteristics including coffee and rich milk chocolate. There’s a grain bitterness with the finish. That bitterness is balanced by a good bit of chocolate syrupy type sweetness and a refreshing hop mintiness. Very unusual finish that was not unpleasant at all. I would definitely drink this American style Stout again.

Draft at Good Beer. A malty, smooth stout, with a very nice aroma. My guess was that there were some oats in here, but apparently not. Solid.
