Dickinsonbeer (2512), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Mar 6, 2007 Pours a hazy amber, yeasty and muddy, with a fizzy head. Aroma is welches grape soda (thanks to RLB for that description), fruity esters, soy, oxidation, sour notes, cardboardy and metallic. More metal in the flavor, phenolic, old fruit, sour- acetic and lactic giving a wierd vinegar hint and a harsh astringent metallic finish. THis was a fun beer to share at a tasting. Thanks Jason!
willblake (1923), Long Branch, New Jersey, USA Apr 28, 2008 20070303 12oz bottle, 2001. Strong boozy berry notes, actually reminds of Leroux Blackberry brandy. Yikes, it’s sour, thin, and plasticy. Obviously not particularly resilient to age, though maybe in a transition. Still, worth a shot to try. egajdzis (2947), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 16, 2007 [2001] Poured a murky purple brown color with a small, light tan head, light lacing on the glass. Aroma of leaher, sherry, sour cherries, a bit of cardboard, and some nuts as well. Taste of light vanilla, old fruit for sure, cherries, lacto bacteria, with a lengthy sour finish. Certainly seems to have become lambicish, and it wasn’t horrible... Huge thanks to jimmack for sharing this last night, I never thought i’d get to try this! robertsreality (2462), Minnesota, USA Apr 19, 2007 Much Thanks to Dorwart for Sending This Beer. Heavy Mouthfeel...Sour Fruit/Cherry Notes..Sweet Syrupy Malt, Very Sweet to Balance Out the Sour Fruits...Dry Oaked Flavor..Fair Amount of Heat. Clean Dry Finish. An Interesting Dubbel, to be Sure. pivo (2484), Germany Dec 30, 2004 Strong yeasty nose with some corriander and a little dust. Hazy gold and a fluffy head. Sweetish malt front with some candi-sugar. Tight peppery end - very spicy all around. Medium body, decent balance. Whiff of alcohol at the end too.
