2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Terminus (2891) - Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA - JUN 16, 200522 oz bottle-thanks to Hopdog for the bonus beer. pours 92% black with a fizzy beige head with good retention. Milk chocolate lactic note in the aroma with other notes of silver metal, and some light roast with a touch of smoke. There are some off-flavors here. Lots of metalic notes that become very detracting. Some cherry note that doesnt fit either-kinda acidic and offensive. Some mineral qualities also as the beer finishes. body verges on thin but does a decent job distributing what flavors are present. almost tastes bourbon barrel aged, but not in a good way. thanks for the try though Hopdog!

Gift from SJ for Weyerbacher night. Deep reddish pour with a brown hue. Roasted malt aroma with notes of chocolate and butterscotch.
Sweet molasses, roast and chocolate taste. A really rich finish. Not bad.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Naka (684) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 21, 2011
Disclaimer: this beer has been abused by cycles through a cooler, fridge, and basement, so please take this with a grain of salt.
Pours black with just a small fizzy trace of a head. Aroma is smooth chocolate, caramel, and a little molasses. Flavor is a nice bittersweet. A nice roasty carbon at the end. The dark bitter definitely lasts. Medium body and slightly acidic. Actually held up pretty well.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 cakanator (452) - South Hadley, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 5, 2011
22oz bottle, pretty much forgot I had it, I think it was from 08. decent color and head, light cocoa notes in the aroma, more of a dark chocolate. Really smooth across the palate, not too thin, some decent roasted flavors. Other than that, pretty bland. I’m sure this isn’t what the brewery wanted after so long, but overall not bad.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 cpetrone84 (959) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 5, 2010
A-pours a black liquid with a burnt caramel colored head that is dense and creamy.
S-lots of chocolate with notes of vanilla, hints of molasses behind with a touch of roasted coffee.
T-big time chocolate, touch of vanilla and molasses, notes of roasted coffee in the back
M-smooth on the palate but a little thin, low carbonation letting the body fall off in the back.
D-pretty straight forward stout style beer, roasted dark malts and nothing else and not really well done. the thin body gives it a watery presence.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 r464 (1467) - Earth, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 1, 2010
UPDATED: MAY 22, 2011 Very dark in color. Flavor is strong on roastiness and chocolate with a hint of coffee. Smooth and drinkable given the medium level of alcohol.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SSKD814 (854) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 8, 2010
A- deep brown almost black body with thick dark tan head. Good head retention. Left behind some lacing in the glass.
S-Deep roasted malt, carmel, and coffee.
T- much like the smell. Warm roasted cofee and malt up front. Sweet carmel coffee aftertaste. No bitterness or taste of alcohol in this one.
P- moderately heavy body and medium carbonation. Very smooth beer to drink. Well done.
O- This is a good winter beer. The sweet roasted carmel cofee flavor is great for that season. I enjoyed this one and will have it again.
