Blasphemy is our award winning QUAD aged in bourbon barrels. But not overaged, so we've picked up gentle vanilla oaky notes which complement rather than supercede the complex qualities that already make QUAD such an incredible beer.

Pour a ruby brown color with a little rim of gaseous bubbles. The nose is pretty nice with burnt sugar, bourbon, vanilla, pecan and a touch of dark fruit. the palate is less pleasing... sticky, under carbonated with a slight medicinal undertone derived from the round sweetness and fruit. The bourbon character is well integrated but the overall beer is a bit disjointed and seems to stall out.

12/24/13. First bottle shared on Xmas eve with Luke. $8.95 bomber from RW. My had it sitting in my cellar for about 8 months. Tasted of dried fruit and alcohol. Not one of my favs. I believe after our initial pour, be dumped the rest of it. Not a fan ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a bottle at the brewery. Pours hazy light/medium brown with a thin off white head. Tastes strongly of booze, brown sugar, malt. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like alcohol and sweet grains.

Tap at brewery. Pours hazy dark amber with fizzy beige head. Aroma is plums, grapes, raisins, vanilla, oak, alcohol spice, bready and cookie malts, and faint toffee. Flavor is chewy malt base with strong dark fruit and vanilla notes with oak and booze; dry finish. Medium/full body and low carbonation.

Bottle. Heavy caramel and milk chocolate for the malt, moderate cooked orange for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with background notes of date, brown sugar and alcohol. Head is small, fizzy/frothy, light beige with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is hazy dark amber/orange. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderate to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is medium to full, syrupy, with a soft carbonation and a finis thatís chewy, sticky on the lips, and heavily to harsh alcoholic Maybe a little too boozy, but this tasty Quadrupel has all the best of the quality requisites of the style.

Gees this is not a beer it is a barley wine. Really sweet and powerful taste like a quad ale. Had bomber from Holmes. I appreciate this beer but itís not for me.

750 ml bottle into chalice, bottled on 5/9/2013. Pours moderately cloudy reddish copper color with a 1 finger dense off white head with poor retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Minimal spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, fig, apple, pear, plum, clove, pepper, oak, caramel, candi sugar, toffee, bourbon, molasses, light vanilla, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt, barrel, and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big pear, apple, plum, raisin, prune, caramel, toast, toffee, vanilla, oak, clove, pepper, candi sugar, molasses, brown bread, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of dark/light fruits, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, vanilla, oak, clove, pepper, candi sugar, brown bread, herbal and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark malt, and bourbon barrel flavors; with big robustness and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a slick and moderately syrupy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent barrel aged Quadrupel style. All around great complexity and balance of malt, yeast ester, and barrel flavors; and quite smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable sipper.

Dried fruit and alcohol. Seems like a recurring theme for this brewery! Toffee and a dry bitter finish.

Bottle from Proof Bottle Shop. Pours a hazy brown with a tinge of red. Cream colored head that lasted pretty well. Collar persistedthroughout the entire bomber. Aroma is mostly fig, and red grape with lots of molasses and whiskey booziness to it. Taste is almost the exact same but with some vanilla and cherry as well. Mouthfeel is enjoyably boozy. The booziness that detracts from the taste and smell is airy and pungent on the tongue. Iím glad Iíve got a few more of these for this winter and next winter. Iím hoping the booze subsides and morphs into something else.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Sparrow, 11/1/13

Aroma: The nose is malty and boozy, plenty of bourbon, oak, caramel, fruit, and a little spice
Appearance: It pours a murky brownish-orange color with a very small beige head
Flavor: The taste is much the same, lots of bourbon, some malty sweetness (but not over-the-top)
Palate: The body is full, a little heat, but not quite as much as the 11.8% would lead you to expect
Overall Impression: My first beer of November, and this one is certainly a sipper. It also drinks better at slightly warmer temperatures. This beer is very much worth trying, especially if you enjoy bourbon.
