Dark, cloudy amber pour with a quarter inch head that appears to be ever so slightly beige. Boozy aroma wafts up after a swirl of my snifter, unleashing a barrage of dark fruits. Strong notes of prunes, raisins, figs, and candi sugar, with an undertone of earthy barley. Subtle hints of vanilla and oak as it warms, and definitely more than a suggestion of bourbon. Taste is warm and sweet, a robust body enveloping the tongue and coating the mouth for several minutes. Sweet and fruity up front, somewhat of a blast of booze flavor, but not too much alcohol heat. Vanilla and oak flavors are very pronounced, though the bourbon itself seems overwhelmed by the plethora of other flavors. The oak really comes through in the aftertaste left on the tongue, and I found myself taking several minutes between sips to truly appreciate the complexities. This is how a bourbon barrel quad should be done. Iím not always easily impressed, but this beer elicited an audible "WOW" from my lips.

Pours a dark burgundy with a think khaki head that quickly dissipates. Lots of wood and whiskey on the nose with notes of toffee, raisins, prune with a heavy malt presence. The wood and whiskey attack your palate followed by flavors of raisins, dark fruits and caramel. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, medium viscosity. The wood gives you a lasting dry finish in the roof of your mouth and the alcohol is hot in the throat. The intro says that this is not overaged but my guess is that the whiskey barrels were freshly emptied since you have an aggressive whiskey presence. I am glad it is aggressive because it fits so well.

A nice quad overall. Pours a deep red-brown with a tan head. Smells of berries. Taste is berries, quite malty, with some creme and licorice. Had in the bottle.

A very unique quad. Tons of body and flavor. Pours medium brown with a thick frothy head. Favors are rich butter, buttermilk, milk chocolate, and chocolate malt. Warm, but not overpowering alcohol feel. Goes perfect with milk chocolate.

Had a sample at WOBFest 2016. Another offering that I rushed to try first. Really good quad with tons of spice that is balanced out by the plum flavor nicely. Well done.

Woody brown color with small tan head. Oaky, caramel, purple fruit aroma. Medium full body. Some alcohol, minimal carbonation. Very sweet, fruity, boozy, some wood. Flavors are good but a little too sweet and medicinal.

Itís heavy handed, it plays all itís cards right up front. People who donít love bourbon barrel aging might get tired of it before the bottle is empty, but Iím a sucker for oak. This beer pours medium brown with average head and carbonation. The aroma is vanilla, bananas, liquor, warm malt, and, of course, oak. Thatís the flavor, too. Nothing subtle and not really complex. Having said that, I enjoyed every predictable drop.

Aroma caramel, alcohol, woody, dark fruits,
Appearance red, minimal head,
Taste medium sweetness, heavy sweetness,
Palate medium body, full body, sticky,
Overall bottled on 4/20/15 drank on 4/20/16. There is no head on this beer at all. Maybe a slight presence of alcohol but it has mellowed out. Nice warmth down the throat. Hints of dark fruits and medium to heavy sweetness. I would suggest this beer to a friend.

It pours brown with some clouding. The head doesnít last very long. It has aromas of bread, plums, spices, alcohol and whiskey. The malt is very dominant in initial flavors with toast, a rich taste, caramel, alcohol, whisky elements, plums, and a bit of vanilla. The flavors work well together as part of the complexity of this particular brew. It feels moderate on the heavy side with a fair amount of alcohol warming. It a complex bitter-sweet finish.
