PWalk (332), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 1, 2004 Updated: Dec 30, 2004 Pours dark into the glass with small head. Aroma is heavy with fruit and vanilla. Smooth on the palate just the way I like it. This will keep you warm when your cold. Highly enjoyed it and I felt it after I knocked off the bottle. It’s 11%! Just the way I like them.
wetherel (1012), Carlsbad, California, USA Sep 6, 2008 Bottle from kmweaver. Thanks Ken! Amber color. Small head of small bubbles. A hint of alcohol. Some malt. Leans sweet. jsquire (1880), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Sep 6, 2008 Murky amber color with a khaki colored head that shrank to a thin layer of bubbles pretty quickly. Nose of caramels, ripe pit fruit and alcohol. Lots of melted caramel in the flavor, with rum soaked peaches, candied grapefruit, and good home made bread. This improves as it warms, but the alcohol becomes more prevelent. Nice barley wine. BrotherGrendel (155), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Sep 6, 2008 Tasting at PP Cbad, thanks to wetherel! Dense bright orange/amber hue, minimal head. Nose is caramel malts, molasses, light fruits, grass, booze. Taste is light caramel malts, rich sweet fruits, light grassy hops, finishes sweet and boozey. Thick texture with moderate carbonation. A nicely balanced barleywine that is a bid lacking in flavor for the style. MrChopin (172), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2008 Like most Weyerbachers I’ve had, simple, straightforward, and overbearing. Malty and sweet, this is alcoholic to the point of medicine like their Raspberry IS, and worse, quite watery. Not very impressive. ucusty (1077), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Sep 1, 2008 Dark cloudy brown pour with a creamy head. Toffee, caramel, and molasses on the nose. Caramel malts and slightly hoppy. I bit too sweet and hot for my tastes
