At Weyerbacher, we prefer to brew things true to European style guidelines, so our barley wine is definitely on the malty side, without being overly sweet. Notes of date or perhaps fig on the palate follow a pleasurably malty aroma to your taste buds. The finish is warm and fruity, and begs for the next sip.

Aroma: Malty at first with an estery alcohol flavor afterwards. Little to no hop aroma, possibly a tiny bit of vegetal-like aroma. Appearance: Light amber, with a small white head. The head dissipated rather quickly. Strong lacing in the glass Taste: Very malt forward. It is obvious that this is an English-style barley wine. Some light caramel flavors are present. The hops balance the maltiness, but there is very little hop flavor. Alcohol can be tasted slightly in the finish, but not unpleasantly. Mouthfeel: Full-bodied and excellent at first, with a nice dry finish. The dry, alcoholic finish makes this a very drinkable malt-forward beer. Overall: Not the best barley wine Iíve had, but surely drinkable. This is a great beer, even if it isnít the best in itís class. I would definitely recommend picking up a bottle. Perhaps it would be better if cellared.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2015 Caramelized malt, candied sugar and hop aroma. Low carbonation. Taste is full flavored and finishes sweet. Hops balance the sweetness nicely. Alcohol is fairly hidden. Could be a dangerous one at 11% ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle into tulip. Light chill beyond cellar temp. Aroma is fruity and maybe some light caramel malts. Very dark amber or almost ruby in color half inch light tan head disappears very quickly. No lacing at all. Beer is almost flat looking. Taste is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Malty notes of dried fruit such as raisins. Medium bodied with a thin texture. Soft to flat carbonation. Long warm and fruity finish. Not surprisingly, considering it is 11.1%, the taste of alcohol is clearly present. Over all good beer. Good sipper for a cold night or raw day. Im still getting to know more about the style personally. I will probably leave the other three of the four pack cellar for a while.

Pours a murky ruby with small head and moderate lacing. Aroma of stone fruit, hint of booze, hint of citrus. Moderately sweet taste with some alcohol burn. Candy sugar. Full bodied with soft but abundant carbonation. Long finish.

Bottle from Whole Foods. Sweet & boozy. Some hints of fruitiness. Not what i expected, though this was my very first Barley Wine. Am sure there are better ones than this...at least i hope so. Would also prefer trying a darker one.

Careful with the abv! It is a barley wine. Updating from long ago. Enjoyed both on tap and in bottle. Thick and heavy, donít have a full bottle alone as you wonít be able to finish it.

The aroma of dark fruit and alcohol. The taste is of alcohol, bitter and slightly fruity. Heavy bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth for a long while. No beer that I like, unfortunately. Follow me @ Kung av Ųl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Pours a caramel brown color with no foam head. Aroma is sugary sweet, honey, caramel, and dark fruits. Flavor is similar, with a pleasing sweetness. No alcohol bite or burn. Feels lighter than its ABV. Decent.

Nothing special appearance wise. Average color with minimal head and no retention or lacing. Slightly oily mouth feel that coats mouth. Flavor is smooth and filled with sweet flavor. Fruity and malty with some boozey flavor without any alcohol burn. Ok drink, nothing special.
