3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 amishcaravan (247) - Winona, Minnesota, USA - OCT 27, 2010Aroma is quite fruity. Not what you would expect from a barley wine. Pour is a semi translucent amber with a fair amount of suspended particulate. Taste has some iron in it. It is almost as if they either used dirty water or Fermented/Stored the beer in metal. A decent brew but not the most enjoyable.

Been a minute. Remember a pretty thick malt bomb, but tamed. Mapley with hints of apple, and bittering from the hops towards the end...spicey linger. Decent BW.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jaghana (2828) - Strasbourg (France), FRANCE - MAY 1, 2013
Bottle 350ml an amber red ale with medium creamy head. Nose is intense on barley sugar, red fruit, and sweetness. Aroma is on a creamy fruit syrup, grapes, blackcurrant, apricot, apples, very sweet, caramel and even light chocolate notes, light diacetyl, spicy on pepper and cinnamom, banana (some Aventinus eisbok profile), phénols. Quite pleasant, near to belgian style.

Hazy dark amber pour, slight white head. Nose is malty, caramel and just a touch of hops. Mouthfeel is nice - not too heavy. Slightly bitter in the aftertaste. Nice balance of malt and some hops.

12 ounce thanks to robenalt. Brown sugar. Malty. Maple syrup. Sweet all around with that dried fruit barley wine taste. Nice sugary nose.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Sathorael (82) - Oceanside, California, USA - APR 5, 2013
Aromas a of sweet malts, dried apricot, raisin, milk chocolate and a little bready. Taste is malty sweet with a big dried fruit flavor of raisin and fig. Finish is sweet and long. Very different approach to other dry hopped barley wines.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 johninmelb (1004) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - APR 3, 2013
Strongly malted nose with cereal, honeycomb and a hint of kiwifruit. Flavour is sweet caramel with a hint of underpinning bitterness. Some fruit notes come through - figs and some more kiwi. Finish is treacly and rich with just a little freshening bitterness from the hops. Very nice.
