3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUL 25, 2011 Bottle. Poured a cloudy reddish-brown with a very small light pink fizzy head that was fully diminishing in a matter of seconds and had virtually no lacing to speak of.
The aroma was strong up front of a nutty cookie like malt, a mild dose of flowery hops, and a strong presence of a doughy yeast with hint of dried fruit (raisins, figs and maybe plums).
It tasted moderately sweet, fruity and a little sour with a nice note of raisins in the beginning and finished with this nice bitter-sweet flavor with a hint of dried fruit and had a moderate warming sensation from the alcohol at the end. The flavor was left lying on the taste buds for a fair amount of time allowing you to savor this tasty nectar.
Mouthfeel was medium in body and oily in texture with the carbonation being very soft.
Overall a fantastic Barleywine Ale with an abundance of flavor that does an awesome job of concealing the high alcohol content.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dense hazy brown with fine-grained ring of head leaving OK lacing. Aroma is straight up candy; this is super sweet. Sugar, raisins, etc. Taste follows suit with plenty of sweetness. There is some drying and bitterness in the end, thankfully, but this is primarily a malt-forward sweet barleywine. Not complaining - itís super drinkable for the ABV. Would buy again.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared 12 oz. bottle poured to snifters, showing a hazed, copper hue, with a bubbly layer of off white head foam, and minimal spots of lacing. The nose was sweet grain, light dried fruit, and some lurking alcohol presence. The taste was similar notes, decent malt, and alcohol warmth.
All the right components were present, but didnít impress as anymore than an average Barleywine.

Bottle from Beer heaven. Malt dominates, semi-sweet aroma, some wood, and peat. Taste is more malt, burnt toast, oak barrel. Very abrupt finish and just a hint of alcohol warmth.

Totally good this. Very strong and malty. The shape is notorious and it is also very cloudy there.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy dark copper with a big off white head, much bigger and more stable than I would have expected on a barley wine. Aroma of dried fruit, dark caramel, and raisins. Taste full and malty, dried fruit, sugar, raisins, caramel, and just a hint if dryness to balance it out. It is everything you should expect from a barley wine: full, rich, malty, but not heavy of cloying. Damn good (and I donít even like the style...)
