COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bootes is the 5th Installment in the Northern Hemisphere Constellation Brewers’ Select Series! Bootes is a ruby brown American Strong Ale weighing in at 9% ABV. Bootes was brewed using pale, wheat, biscuit, crystal and roasted malts for a strong malt character. Bootes was mash-hopped with Simcoe for increased bitterness and was aroma hopped with Bravo and Centennial. Bootes is in the 100 IBU range—one of the highest bitterness measurements we’ve done here at Weyerbacher—and yet it isn’t an IPA! Think barleywine with some hop character. As with all of our Brewers’ Select beers, Bootes is an extremely limited production. Bootes will be available on draft at select restaurants and bars throughout our distribution area. 12 oz bottles and filled-from-the-tap fresh growlers will be available exclusively at Weyerbacher’s Visitors Center starting Thursday, December 19th, 2013.

On tap at TAP GBC Beer Collection, pours a dark mahogany brown color with a small head. Nose is heavy sweet malt. Taste is vanilla sweet malt, and full of earthy and wood flavors. Finish is dry, sweet and the alcohol blended perfectly without a hint in the taste. Nice. Quaff Score 8 / 10

UPDATED: APR 13, 2014 Draft at Good Dog and later at the Khyber. Clear dark copper pour that started with an impressive tan head. Not much aroma at first, but it bloomed nicely as it warmed. First taste pops with unexpected bright juicy hop flavors despite the undeniable dark malts that form the backbone. Charged dark fruit. Spicy tangerine curry. Chocolate cinnamon toast. Brandied plums. Figs dipped in turpentine. Burnt celery hearts. Pecan pie with heavy molasses. Blood pudding. Darkly sweet but the lingering spice more than balances it out. Really nice complex brew.

Draft at Uno. Pours deep, dark amber with minimal head. Aroma is biscuit, dough, fresh grass. Taste is mix of bitter hop with some bw sweetness, as advertised. Some resin character here that holds up against the malt. Probably leans toward the sweeter side - Belgian-esque. Enjoyable though.

Bottle from a female PUB"R assassin procured from Easton. Pours hazy caramel colored with off-white head. Nose is heavy hops, caramel malt, some cheesy ad fruitiness. The Simcoe shines in this, and it comes across like an imperial brown IPA. Smooth, rich, and delicious, with well hidden alcohol, this one was more than a match for a full bodied Oliva Series V cigar. Wonderful, and get ya some before I crave it all for Doc Lock.

12 ounce thanks to Greg. Creamy black ale. Somewhat hoppy. Some bitterness and despite being dark, not much roast. Creamy finish as well.

Bottle shared by sonnycheeba. Pours clear dark brown with a medium, creamy beige head, medium-short retention with light lacing. Aroma is perfume alcohol, light toast and bread crust malt, faint brown sugar, pepper, dates and figs, and pine and resin hops. Flavor is sweet toasted malt, spicy alcohol, dark fruits, medium hops and moderate bitterness with a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
