COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Canes Venatici is Latin for ‘hunting dogs’ and is the next installment in the Brewers’ Select Series. Canes Venatici is a 6.7% ABV maibock-style (A LAGER!), which features a beautiful hop called “Mandarina Baveria”. This hop imparts an amazing mandarin orange-esque finish to this otherwise traditionally malty and lightly orange-colored spring lager. The malts used are 100% German: Pilsner, Munich and Vienna. We bittered Canes Venatici with Apollo hops and used Mandarina Baveria for flavor and aroma. Fermentation was with German Bock yeast. As with all Brewers’ Select releases, this is a limited release on draft only for restaurants and taverns throughout our distribution area and in 12 oz. bottles exclusively at the Visitors Center. Stay tuned for a release date for Canes Venatici!

Tap at Ca[one’s and Craft Ale. Poured straw colored with clingy off-white head. Nose was fruity, pale malty, somewhat yeasty, with more fruit and malt in the finish. I’m not sure why Gary is whipping out a Heller Bock in late August, but whatever.

Clear golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of bread, toast, and citrus. Taste of toast, honey, light citrus. Bready, clean, nice lager character.

On tap at Capone’s. Poured a golden color with a small sized off white head. Honey, toasted grains, and lightly fruity. Not a bad beer (Maibocks are not one of my favorite styles, but found this one enjoyable).
