Bottle. Got this one in a trade. I was presently surprised with this one. It was incredibly sweet. I have always been a little weary about spice beers, but this one didn’t disappoint.

About a 1 inch thich head of light brown bubbles. Very dense and creamy. Sweet rootbeer aroma with some dark fruit, chocolate and dark roasted malts. Minor bit of spice in there too. Color is a very dark brown. Very malty and roasty with some licorice, mild spice again, molasses and some ginger. Flavor is all over the place but still pretty good. Light alcohol presence that warms the stomach. Finishes malty and earthy with a lingering bit of spice. The cinnamon finally showed up. A decent experiment.

Bottle from Capone’s sampled over X-mas 2008. Pours very deep brown with 2-finger brown head. Nose is weizenbocky, with malt, banana, spice, nutmeg, molasses, cacao powder. Complex aroma. Tastes dark malty, spicy, with nutmeg, x-mas spices, hints of molasses, brown sugar, and mild rauchy notes. This one is all over the place, and evolves over time. The finish is fruity, with fig, blackberry, and more spices. Good, but I like to call this one the Tasmanian Devil of beers.

Dark brown with a spicy aroma of roots, cinnamon, and dirt. Flavor has a bit of chocolate, but mostly roots, dirt, and assorted spices. Not one of their better efforts.

Last of the keg at the Brickskeller, DC. Big head, thick, settled out in a nitro-esque fashion. Big spicy taste, quite intense. Lots of cinnamon and ginger. Very smooth mouthfeel. Ginger aftertaste is a little much for me, but I was happy to try this one nonetheless.

Draft - RFD. Black, thin light tan creamy head. Roasted ginger and spicy cinnamon notes ride soft swirls of dry chocolate. Intense chocolate ginger and spice flavors balance well on a soft layer of molasses and caramel. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. I like unique, and this one one certainly is just that. Well done...
