Earthy pine aroma with some mustiness and apple and peach. Nice sweet caramel up front then a huge pleasing bitter finish. Alcohol hidden well in this medium bodied smooth DIPA. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Appearance is golden orange with hues of amber, slight turbidity. Nice white head with some staying power and excellent lacing.
Smell is fresh grass and pine with distant hints of lemon and black pepper.
Taste is very dominant hops, but not as overpowering as some American IPAs, this one is better balanced than most. Nice bitter finish which is long lasting.
Very drinkable. A notch below the Mikkeller Simcoe, but head and shoulders about the average American IPA. williamherbert (466), Syracuse, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 8, 2009 2007 review: Bright but flat golden color. Finger of thin head that melts quickly. Has a nice, promising haze. Looks good.
The smell is a cross between a light blond ale and a typical pub ale. Has a mild hint of lemon. Seems to have some pale malts. Again, not bad.
The taste is a nice, sweet & fruity first sip; lemons and (blue)berries. Light and refreshing; sweet but with a bready malt base. Well-balanced. A very solid golden ale flavor with pale malts.
Like a light juice; a bit of thickness, but smooth enough. Absolutely the perfect consistency for summer. A major summery triumph. Flavor is nice, repeats required.

2008 review: Puffy cloud-like head. A thick looking cloudy brew. Dark orange. sweats a little on the outside of the glass. Little chunks floating inside.
Really nice woody and flowery hop aroma, backed by a sweet and biscuty malt. Hop smell isn’t extreme but mild and balanced. quite nice.
Colossal blast of woody hops with a hint of oak. The hop completely overshadows all other flavors. Not unpleasant but all the nuance of the smell is absent. It’s an imperial IPA with a big ole alcohol burst. Mellows as it warms.
The feel is thick, chewy. Leaves a viscous film. really chunky: a slugger. Not a summer beer, to say the least. A big thick brew. Crazy hops but unfortunately no balance. BigBeer45 (692), Troy, Michigan, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 6, 2009 12 oz. Bottle,
has a copper-amber pour with a one to two finger high off-white head, head is made-up of very fine bubbles, left nice creamy lacing on the glass, there is a good amount of effervescence in the glass, this was a bit hazy and there were some particles but no sediment in the bottle,
aromas of orange, caramel, toasted malt, grass and herbs (Simcoe hops), some floral scents,
flavors of flavors of toasted malt, a fine pine needle bitterness, grapefruit, orange and pineapple flavors with caramel , no alcohol taste but I could sense a little warmth in the mouth, has a good amount of malt sweetness that lingers a bit at the finish, hop bitterness is prominent at the finish,
has a good mouth feel, this beer looks viscous in the glass,
I liked the balance of bitterness and sweetness in this beer, alcohol is hidden well, and this beer would easily be a sneaker.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 3, 2009 12 oz bottle. Clear amber/light brown with a foamy sticky off white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of pine resin, cat piss, citrus and an underlying earthy quality. Mostly bitter flavor with just enough malt sweetness to balance it out, finishes long and bitter. Medium body with average carbonation, and a dry hop mouth feel. Very nice IIPA, love the Simcoe, my new BFF! watson1977 (267), , Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 1, 2009 pours an amber/orange color with t medium light tan head...fairly lively looking. aroma is maltier than i thought with lots of caramel sweetness, light fruit, and some pine. aroma remids me of a barleywine (how old is the bottle?) flavor is much the same but with more piney hops than i expected and some grapefruit in the end. medium mouthfeel with average cartbonation and a bitter and dry grapefruity finish that lingers. i was not overly impressed with this beer. tokyogoat (508), San Diego, California, USA

Nose is like christmas extract, just pine and pine and pine.
Taste is piny with a harsh bitterness, lots of hop resin, more pine, slight hints of citrus.
