Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Apr 5, 2009 Sampled at the Impromptu Butter’s 6th cellar clearance. Hazy orange pour with wispy offwhite thin head. Nose of grapefruit and pine. Flavor is cat pissy bitter hop but has some malt to back it up. Bottle must be a little old, this has mellowed nicely. Semi-balanced now. Birdiebeagle (778), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 1, 2009 Bottle Pours a hazy copper with a good off white head. The head lasts well, and adds good lacing. Has a spruce hoppy aroma, with a nice touch of pepper. Taste is excellent. Very good hoppiness with too much bitter. Has a great carbination, and a wonderful mouthfeel. Has a medium body. An awesome finish which leaves me wanting more. The texture is just about perfect for beer. This is what I expect from a DIPA and would expect nothing less from my guys at Weyerbacher. Well done. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Mar 30, 2009 Poured a clear amber / dull copper color with a modest white head and terrific lacing. The aroma is dominated by pine and floral hops with peppery spice and very light hints at citrus and malt. The flavor is pine hops and peppery spice with a bit of malt trying to hold up its end of the bargain. The mouthfeel is nice, the 9% ABV wasn’t noticed. KyotoLefty (1371), Kyoto, Japan Mar 28, 2009 Huge hop aroma, citrus and pine. Big alcohol burn in the mouth, peppery hops, massive bitterness but very well balanced and refreshing. A fabulous beer. The single hop really gave an original, interesting experience. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Mar 22, 2009 On tap at Buckeye Beer Engine. Cloudy deep amber pour with a medium off-white head. Aromas of earthy and citrusy hops and feet. Nice hop and malt balance in the flavor with a solid bitter finish. viet959 (68), , Georgia, USA Mar 19, 2009 Testing including Ruination, Double Simcoe, and DF 90min. Cloudy reddish orange pour w/ smallish white head that leaves nice lacing. Smells of orange, pine, grapefruit hoppyness, with some sweet malt. Taste the same as it smells with very strong pine presence, little grapefruit, and lots of sweet malt, then the bitter hops kick in really strong. Has a creamy mouthfeel. The most bitter out of the 3. I’d place this in 3rd overall hapjydeuce (765), Del Mar, California, USA Mar 11, 2009 Multiple bottles send in trade with Jabic. Thanks for hooking these up Jimmy! All around, this is a solid DIPA. Golden-orange color with a frothy, cascading vanilla-colored head. Perfect amount of carbonation. Sappy, resinous hop aroma with all the fixin’s of grapefruit, pine needles, and buttery malts. Awesome bitter finish that leaves a long, green finish with a nice touch of alcohol. Great stuff.
