3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Orange-amber, frothy tan head. Fresh hop aroma. The flavor is all hops, they coated my entire mouth and lingered on my palate. Iíve become a big fan of simcoe lately.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Slob. Thanks, Bert! Pours a somewhat thin amber; really wanted more thickness in the body. Nice creamy head that slowly cascades into the beer, leaving a wavy lace network. Flavor is VERY tart and sour in the onset, then it slowly fades back along the palate. Nice pine/grapefruit notes linger. Mouthfeel is solid and allows the flavors to melt along the tongue. This is a great IIPA; another stellar effort from one of the best brewers around. DANG, I want them to ship to Texas!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Donít get me wrong, ití a great IPA. But...
the strong alcy overtone is the first thing that hits you. Itís a grade A IPA, but the ABV kicks your arse!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUN 23, 2007 Cidery opaque appearance with a big tan head. Nice hoppy citrusy aroma (as expected). Flavor is less citrusy and more tea-like with a lingering bitterness. $5/22oz (nyc) Great in a bottle, but nearly perfect on draft.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Strange hazy colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is flowery hoppy and caramellish. Smooth. Flavour is caramel, "IPA", fruitish and very positively hopped. Smooth and easy to drink. Refreshing. Also some nutty hints after it gets warmer. Hides the 9% very well.

RBSG 2006 - DC Grand Tasting Lineup
Amber, nice head and light lacing. Nose of sticky oily hops, sweet and floral. The flavor is sweet, rich body and a nice creamy mouthfeel. The finish is tasty, a nice balanced and grapefruit rich mouthfeel. Nice.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy amber color, small white head. Sugary, bready, mead-like sweet nose, which is full of Simcoe aromas. Soft, sweetish mouthfeel, loads of hops. Bready, bitter aftertaste. Tasty, but not very complex for my liking.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: OCT 3, 2006 Orange-amber in colour with a long lasting white coloured head, great lacing. The aroma is extremely hoppy (citrus, pine), herbal, grassy, lightly sweet. The flavour is rich and chewey, intense hop bite (orange, pine), moderately sweet, small amounts of caramel malts. Very bitter mouthfeel, medium/large body, high carbonation. Finishes very long with a hoppy bitterness, dry. This is quite bitter which is fine but it seems to be lacking in balance to me.
650ml bottle obtained in a trade with OldGrowth, thanks Tom. No Best Before date.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
(07.01.06) One pint 6 oz brown bottle as gift from Tom D. Poured hazy golden yellow with giant white head. No discernable carbonation. Hop bouquet aroma. Full bodied ale that starts with moderate malt sweetness and intensely pine resin citrusy hop flavors. Finished with light hop bitterness. Massive malt to support intensely hoppy profile. Smooth and rich. An exquisite mouth-watering ale, one of the best (if not the best) Weyerbacher beer that I ever had.
