Parrothead (185), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 25, 2009 Pours a cloudy burnt orange gold with a huge billowy head that lasts and lasts. Nose of pine, citrus and honey. Mouthfeel is heavy, oily, tastes of mint or licorice? This is a big, big beer, my first experience with Simcoe hops. A nice IPA, one of the better ones I’ve had. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA Feb 25, 2009 Bright orangish pour with a finger thick off white pour that leaves nice lacing. Strong hop aroma with some woods or earthy notes also. Great hop flavors with a honey nut cherio after taste. Strong malt backbone balances the hops out perfectly. A hint of alcohol as well. Swalden28 (1439), McKinney, Texas, USA Feb 22, 2009 Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours a nice golden orange, faint haze, off-white head. Aroma of pine and floral. Flavor is malty, lots of pine, nice strong bitter. Mouthfeel is medium body and high carbonation. Overall, pretty good stuff! thejon375 (390), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 22, 2009 Tastes like a menthol cig. Not a big fan. Definitely wont try this one again. Slipstream (734), USA Feb 17, 2009 Interesting label has a trippy close up image of some hops. Rich aroma of hops, with some herbal notes and malty sweetness. Thick pine forest flavor - lots of West Coast Simcoe brand houblons. Bitter but not hard. The hops dominate, but things are still in balance. There is a touch of citrus, and no skank. The glass has some sheet lacing on it. This should be on every hop lovers list. Zinister (1199), Houston, Texas, USA Feb 15, 2009 Pours an orange amber with small white head. Simcoe hops and pine on the nose...with nuts and malts on the back. Flavor is bitter hops, citrus and sticky hops resin. Very nice beer. mikalooch (158), , New Jersey, USA Feb 9, 2009 Bottle 12 oz. Pours a cloudy deep orange, nice white head with generous lacing. Aroma is pine/hops with a malt backbone, hints of flowers. Nice intense bitterness in this one, hops with grapefuit and honey, leaves a sticky resin on the lips. Very well balanced and potent, alcohol hits like a brick. Really good, wish I had more. pressboxjoe (69), , New Jersey, USA Feb 9, 2009 Cloudy orange amber, even without pouring bottom of the bottle, with rich 3/4-inch off-white head. Fresh wet aroma, nutty, piney. Well rounded on the tongue, good malt balance overall though tending toward bitterness. I really enjoy this - good alternative to Dead Guy Ale or Oaked Arrogant Bastard.
