keithk (8), ny, New York, USA does not count Feb 9, 2009 cask at rattle n hum, nyc...this is as good as an ipa gets for me, very flowery aroma, very grapefruity aroma, nice sweet taste and bitter finish. Nearly perfect, in my book. Brewsmith (136), Torrance, California, USA Feb 9, 2009 From a 12 oz. bottle send from a friend in MD. Aroma is full of pineapple like I just opened a can of Dole. Slightly sweet aroma. Color is an orange amber with a haze and a half inch beige head. Flavors are toasty, bread crust with hop bitterness and more pineapple flavor from the simcoe. A little sweet, but fairly expected from the 9% abv. Full mouthfeel that is not over carbonated and big and silky over the tongue. Not over the top. Pretty good. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Feb 2, 2009 Bottle thanks to daknole. Cloudy brownish-red with a thin finger of smooth creamy white head. Aroma is powerful citrus, grapefruit and pine hope aromas. Floral and perfumey. Taste is lightly sweet caramel then a dominating citrus hoppiness with a slightly sticky feel as if you had just put some hop resin in your mouth. coharahawk (87), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jan 31, 2009 On draft at World of Beer. Pours copper-orange with couple finger off-white head. Aroma is mostly pine with a moderate amount of floral and citrus notes. Flavor is hops, hops, and more hops. Does have some noticeable malt backbone. Very bitter finish. Mouthfeel is just OK. The high gravity is not completely noticeable, but this was the 3rd in a line-up of 10% beers, so who knows? Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jan 29, 2009 Pretty nice, fruity AIPA aroma with sweaty cereal aftertones. Label needs work, but the beer is a nice, foggy tea-bronze with a webby tan head. Definite hop sting, metallic on the lips, moderate sweetness, grapefruit rind, caramel, boozy. The palate was the major flaw, once your ignore the basic premise of using too many hops - the beer lost carbonation rapidly, and it didn’t have the sturdiness of body that I was expecting. General bitter aftertaste with a late sweet rush. I think this is a full notch below the big AIPA’s that come to mind. MSL. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Jan 29, 2009 (11/14/08) Bottle at Eulogy in Philadelphia. Very hazy orange-amber with a big stable off-white head. Aroma of grapefruity hops and hints of pine. Bitter hoppy flavor with some resinous notes, a bit of grapefruit, light malty sweetness and hints of alcohol. Medium-bodied. Quite good. SuIIy (1406), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Jan 24, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a nice copper color with minimal white head. Nose is simcoe of course, very grassy and fresh. Palate is full and has a very nice complete presence. Flavors are simcoe hops with a bit of nice sweet malt backround. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Jan 23, 2009 Updated: Jan 25, 200912oz bottle. Hazy amber-orange with a sticky white head. Big floral, fruity hop aroma with pineapple and grapefruit. Sweet, bready malt balanced by a big pineaple and grapefruit hop bitterness. Full bodied, with small, yet aggressive carbonation that works with the hop oil to scrub your tongue. A sweet, yet well balanced DIPA that drips fruit all over the place. Nice.
