Commercial Description:
Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well. Draft and bottles, 12 oz. in PA, 22 oz. out of state (as we have no 6-packs),

pours a lovely ambergris color with a nice fluffy white with generous lace. Nose- pine, black pepper and some tangerine notes with a strong malt nose with caramel and a touch of toffee not to hider the hop aroma Flavor: WIth all that alcohol and malt the flavor is really hop focussed clean big spicy (white pepper), citrus pith and some resiny notes supported by a big malt background with caramel and toffee notes. Palate: Slightly syrupy but still finishes nice and dry with a ton of lingering hop flavors Overall: A very well made double IPA - east coast style with great structure and malt presence enough not to hinder the hop exuberance. Alcohol is present but not hot - the balance of toffee notes and big big hop flavors (not tongue bruising) make this sipper easy to enjoy I think my sample was slightly oxidized it was not as aromatic as other raters note here

Tallahassee, Fl. - Liquor Loft - 12 oz bottle. Sparkling medium to dark copper pour with a sticky, but thin white head that leaves decent lacing. Fresh, potent sprucey aroma with hints of pepper. Strong grapefruit citrus-forward flavor as expected but balanced well with a caramel like maltiness. Hints of pepper as well, with some hints of maple syrup and nectarines in the finish. Thickish mouthfeel - a bit on the stinging side - but should be expected with the strong ABV. Very well done.

Pours a beautiful hazy amber with tight frothy head. Thick coat of lacing. A bead of sweat rolled down my forehead and my mouth started to water. A beautiful pour indeed. Aroma is floral and hoppy- citrus and pine. Smells almost resinous. Flavor is fresh and oh so refreshing. The hops are hard hitting- resin and pine with a mellow grapefruit undertone, but overall quite powerful. Subsides quickly- aftertaste is almost non-existant. Palate is smooth and crisp after the initial hop assault. This reminds me a lot of Smuttynose IPA. Definitely a hop monster.

Poured a pretty rich amber color into a pint glass. Thick, creamy head which slowly dissipated, leaving nice sticky lacing. No doubt about the hops in this beer. Strong hoppiness with a slightly sweet smell in the background. The hops hit quick and hard, with a bitter slam, but they quickly pass though leaving behind a mild, fresh sweetness. I am surprised at how quickly the flavors pass, leaving just a trace of hops behind, but also making this beer deceptively easy to drink. Overall, this beer lived up and even surpassed my expectations. IThis beer is scarily drinkable, but be careful with the high ABV.

This beer got me buzzed right away. Pours amber body with a giant white head. Citrus start to finish with plenty of sweet grapefruit flavors. Extra hoppy, plenty of floral character and a soft caramel finish.

Pours cloudy light amber with about an inch thick head. The aroma is killer, PINE dominates, cirtus. Flavor is bitter hops dominate but they warned you. Mouthfeel is pretty thick. This is the smoothest weyerbacher I’ve had, the alcohol is well hidden by the dominating bitterness. Not bad.

Hoppy is the word. A lot of it. Color is golden, hints of orange peel. Thick head, light taste, smooth on the palate. Lagunitas Maximus comes to mind for hoppiness.

pours a copper/golden amber... looks like oolong tea. smells of pine and pineapple-citrus. perfectly bubbly with constant bubbles at the surface. tastes strongly of white grapefruit with certain piney notes. thick and syrupy and extremely bitter. the bitterness hits you about halfway through and stays in your mouth for quite a while. while the bottles are pricey, they are certainly worth it. take your time and really enjoy this one. but, you won’t taste much of anything else after you finish it, your tastebuds will be down for the count, if not the rest of you!
