Commercial Description:
Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well. Draft and bottles, 12 oz. in PA, 22 oz. out of state (as we have no 6-packs),

Bottle. Red amber. Nice head. Clean easy drinking for such high ABV. Soft body. Delicious.

22 oz shared bottle-Clear orange color w/a moderate white head. Full hop aroma. Flavors of citrus & hops up front, but not so thick that you are chewing on it. Had a bit of a bittersweet finish, didn’t overpower you. Full mouthfeel w/o being offensive, like some DIPA’s. This isn’t always my favorite style & I wouldn’t drink it all the time, but this was an enjoyable brew.

Good, but I’m not at all sure I agree with the 99th percentile rating. It very hoppy an bitter as expected, with extreme citric grapefruit on the front, back, and throughout. Still, the bitterness was a bit extreme as considered with the rest of the factors--body, complexity, finish, etc.

bottle thanks to jjpm74. nice deep gold pour with a small head. nothing but hops on the nose. nice thickness that isn’t overwhelmingly hoppy at all. the aftertaste is very hoppy but it’s a smooth hoppy not a very bitter taste at all.

Big pine aroma. Pours golden amber. Super piney with a slight citrus note, some honey malts to balance it out. Very nice IIPA.

It’s spring. Playoffs are on every night. And I get this bomber brought back to me from Asheville. Super hops. Super pine. I tried to sneak it by my wife, but she caught me.

4/7/08 notes: bomber bottle. Pours a cloudy dark apricot. Aroma is of intense hops, floral bouquet, cinnamon spice and light sweetness. Upon tasting, I notice there is minimal carbonation. Thick, syrupy palate that is loaded with flavor. This is an incredibly smooth offering of intense fruity hops, bitterness, grapefruit and flowers. The finish is superb, probably the best balance of malts and hops, sweetness and bitterness I’ve had so far. Although I think the carbonation could be increased add crispness to this brew, I really can’t complain about this beer! Did I mention the delicious hop finish that coats your mouth?
