It’s all about the hops. Good initial taste, with a strong hop follow-up. If you are a true hophead, you need to try this beer! The simcoe hop is the key here. To me, this is a special, special hop, and it is really showcased here. Sparky27 (1583), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Pours a cloudy amber with an initial 1 finger head that dissipates into a foamy top layer lacing my glass nicely. Nose is pineapple, pine and malt. Palate is pineapple and caramel malt up front with pine and bitter hop finish. Creamy mouth feel. Alcohol is nicely hidden at the 9% abv. I liked this a lot. Thanks again Gabe! Awesome aroma, tons of pine and some hints of citrus. Love the texture of this beer too. Flavor is piney hops with a hint of vanilla towards the end. Nice bitterness. Good beer. gsteph (263), knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 13, 2008 Updated: Mar 16, 2008Pours a typical reddish copper with an off-white, semi-toasted marshmallow head. Pillowy and sticky. Sap and citrus nose..but soft. Flavor is masterful. Candied grapfruit, fresh sawn pine, vibrant and spring like. Spot on with brewer description. Resinous but a noticeable and welcomed brown sugar, honey and vanilla sweetness that is creamy and satiny smooth. Crafted with precision. Reminiscent of middle aged barley wine. Bitter but not as abrasive as other DIPAs’. Possibly a new favorite. Top notch. gunhaver (1025), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours a hazy copper color, with a marshmallow-like white head. Reminds me of whipped cream. Tons of lacing on the glass. Very floral aromas, with that trademark acidic Simcoe texture. Some grapefruit as well. Flavors have the acidic bitter bite of hops, with a creamy malt background. Smooth, vanilla-like finish. Carbonated and gooey mouthfeel. Surprisingly balanaced for an DIPA. Quite bitter however. Very good. DandyWolfFloyd (331), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Absolutely the finest of the Weyerbacher products. Double Simcoe IPA is absolutely decadent. It’s aromatic with malty notes, hop notes, even like a banana smell. It’s appearance is a carmel color and it’s nice on top with adequate head. It’s flavor is outstanding with malty and hop goodness again with complexity that also has notes of banana and perhaps pine. This mouth feel is amazingly smooth no astringency at all. This is an amazing concoction.
