hoooraybeer (48), Cranford, New Jersey, USA Dec 10, 2007 Very light tan head and a murky ruby orange color. The aroma is syrupy thick toasted grains and almost smokey orange. It doesn’t have the sweetness you would expect from the aroma which is nice because the balance it achieves is from a pretty forward alchohol taste that does a great mingling with a strong but polite bittering. I mean, It kind of does it’s job and then backs off - so there is not an overpowering aftertaste. Had it in a snifter at 50+ deg.
I think I like Dogfish 90 min better, but this is excellent. darkninja67 (40), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Dec 10, 2007 bomber-pours a nice golden color with a thick off white head. Some sweetness followed by a disappearing bitterness. Smooth and easy to drink. Alcohol is well hidden for a 9% IIPA. I like the balance in this one. Nothing is overpowering to me. Definitely one to buy again. Great beer. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 10, 2007 Nice cloudy copper with a large head of foamy, off white. Mmmmmm... I love simcoe hops. Great nose of citrus. I am going to be biased since my favorite hops are simcoe. The flavor is divine. Hops and malts mesh together in a joyous place in my mouth. Toasted malts with a great dose of caramel. Citrus hops speak of grapefruit. Slightly sour and bitter but very lovable. Nice thick body lays heavily in the mouth. Finishes with a citrus bite that makes me want more. Thanks Mel! sunevdj (1764), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Dec 9, 2007 Pours a dark amber with a beige head and lacings. Smells hoppy. Slightly bitter with a good sweetness and aromas of caramel. Strong fruity hops aromas. Slight grapefruit hint. Low carbonation. Almost heavy bodied. Quite bitter finish with a nice hops touch. I like the hops-prophile and the good balance. Axilla - you’ the man. Theis (3617), Denmark Dec 9, 2007 Bottle - thanks Sune. Clear reddish - offwhite head. High hoppy, grass, soapy, sweetness, light honey sweet notes, red berries, black pepper, malty sweetness, light salty. Low carbonation. Very nice. raiderfost (158), virginia beach, Virginia, USA Dec 8, 2007 Great beer! Bottle 12 oz Poured a light orange with a small whit head. Aroma of pine and grapefruit. This is my new favorite beer. Wish i had bought more than a single, i will be back for more. Amazing double IPA. kassner (429), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 6, 2007 Aroma is flora hops and distinctive, with only a modest afterarome of iron. Aroma holds welleven after sometime. The Head is fair and does not hold for maore than a few seconds. Color is anice amber just a little more on the yellow side and modestly Hazy. Carbonation is modest. The pallette is pillowy and full with just the right level of sweetness in flavor for the style, finishing with a firm and lasting. The carbonation is released in the mouth slowely and adds to the really good palatte.bitterness. checkmatei1 (629), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 6, 2007 Bottle: Poured a hazy amber color with a nice thick head. Aroma was that of Hops, Hops and Hops with some hints of citrus, pine and grass. The flavor was smooth with lots of citrus hops and bitters.
