Commercial Description:
Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well. Draft and bottles, 12 oz. in PA, 22 oz. out of state (as we have no 6-packs),

Yummy beer! Aroma is redolent of some spice that I cannot place my finger on, simcoe, and caramelized malts. Taste is initially very sweet and simcoe citrus hoppiness. Finish is bitter and lasting. Decent DIPA, but with this size body I think I could lay one of these dudes down for a few years and have a fine barleywine.

Pours a beautiful copper with a big, off white head. Intense aroma of earthy hops and citrus. Creamy mouth feel. Flavor of grapefruit and very bitter, dry hops. Well made - very enjoyable and unique.

This was an outstanding IPA. It was recommended by the waitress at Capital House. The IPA was special! The head was smooth about one finger in thicknes. The flavor of citrus was dominate. The 9% ABV was hidden by the hops and maltiness. I will be enjoyiong this IPA in the future. The amber color and head were very inviting from the beginning. I enjoyed another in October 2007. Just as good as the first.

5gal keg from Halftime. Cloudy, reddish brown color. Off white head, neither thick and creamy nor thin or evanascent. Aroma is pure hops, hops and more hops, almost floral. You do not need to stick your nose very far into the glass to catch it. Mouthfeel is lighter than expected. Flavor is hoppy, a little winey like a baby barleywine. Very tasty indeed but what a monster.

Huge piney-hop nose - smells like I fell into a Christmas Tree. Explosive pine and citrus flavor balanced well with a sweet malt finish that has enough hop bite to hide (somewhat) the high ABV.

Bottle: pours a nice copper color with a thick frothy head, hoppy aromoa with some citrus (my wife says peaches) - this thing really has a nice aroma to it -, taste is very hoppy with a dry warming finish. Very nice double ipa but I still prefer my Dogfish Head 90 minute over this.

Thanks to franksnbeans for this bottle. Copper color with big thick head. Huge nose of pine, spice and just a hint of sweet oranges. Flavor is big, big and big on hops. Then it flows into a sweet and creamy malt texture. Finish is hoppy and warm from the alcohol.
