Commercial Description:
Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well. Draft and bottles, 12 oz. in PA, 22 oz. out of state (as we have no 6-packs),

Cole’sIPA Fest. The aroma of west coast hops is incredible, deep orange, a small custard head. Flavour is absolutely orange, pinecones, some fabulous malt underpinning this bad boy. Full bodied, very well balanced, extra bitter. Marvellous!

350 ml bottle from vintage cellars. Hazy copper brown with a fluffy beige head. Citrus and pine aroma. Citrus and tropical fruit taste with notes of pine and caramel in the finish. Quite good.

Wow... the aroma hits you like a ton of bricks. Heady with citrus hops. Bitter taste and the start followed rapidly by bitter taste at the finish! Some sweet undertones. This is definitely a hophead beer!

This pours a very pretty amber color with an off white head. The initial aroma has a bit of earthiness and a heavy hop aroma. This beer has a lot of body. It really is a mouthful of a beer. Lots of flavor with a pretty good balance. Nice lingering aftertaste. I would struggle to drink a full bottle (22oz) but am always happy to have some.

The aroma hits hard as soon as the bottle is opened...it is the hops, announcing its presence. Pours a very clear amber. I am excited but the head refuses to subside and let me sample the brew. Slowly it leaves but not entirely. The lacing is thick. Finally. This one is heavy bodied, you can feel the weight in on your lower jaw. The hops are very bitter, warming. Strong citrus, grapefruit zestyness with notes of pine. Dry. Satisfying. This is why I love hops.

I think I liked the 22ozer better than the 12ozers, but I realize that shouldn’t make any sense. This beer is thick and chewy, but somehow acheives a very very nice balance between a ton of malt and a ton of hops, bringing it more in line with the American Strong Ale category, in my humble opinion. A nice beer to chew.

Shockoe festival Richmond VA-Draft: Hop aroma. Amber color, thick head. Moderately thick and sweet hop taste. Great hop finish. Not complex, but tasty.

22 oz bottle at Mc Kays Public House. Amber color with a thick beige head. The taste is sweet citrus, and malt, The alcohol % is high but it does not take away any of the taste of malt and fruits. This was offerder as a choice by the bartender , it was not on the menu I will always be thankful to him.
