Commercial Description:
Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well. Draft and bottles, 12 oz. in PA, 22 oz. out of state (as we have no 6-packs),

22 oz bottle. Big hop aroma from the start. Taste of pine and grapefruit. Good balance of hops and malt. Solid IIPA.

12 oz bottle: PRetty solid all around for a doublee IPA. Suprisingly sweet and malty balance for a DIIPA. Definitely lots of citrus, pine, grapefruit. I feel like the commercial description is pretty spot on. My only comment really is that it has a near barley wine lilke sweetness in its undertones, whic certainly suprised me.

12oz Bottle, drank 8/17/07, no bottling date. Pours a nice hazy bright orange color with fluffy foam that leaves great lacing and sticks around the entire glass. Aroma is dead. Nothing. No typical wonderful simcoe goodness, just a little hint of malt and faint grapefruit. Very disappointing. First sip is harsh bitterness surrounded by lots of maltiness. Almost seems like they added all the hops as kettle hops and forgot about finishing and/or dry hops. Don’t think my bottle was old, didn’t have any of the telltale signs of an old ipa, just seemed like something went terribly wrong with this.

unbelievable aroma of fresh hops. the beer has so much alcohol and malt that it is able to balance this huge hop flavor. a great beer

Pours an amber color with a white head. Aroma is some caramel with a big bitter grapefruit aroma. Flavor is caramel with a bitter grapefruit hops finish.

Man am I in need of a Hop Bomb today - and this most certainly fits the bill. From the 12 oz. bottle this pours a deep orange body with a tall sustained head that evenly laces the glass. The caramelly malts are detectable in the aroma, but it’s mainly a serious hop bitterness - pine, grapefruit, lemon & grapefruit zest, earth... Nice. In the flavor there’s a sturdy backbone of malt, caramel & orchard fruit, that struggles to support the onslaught of Simcoe bitterness, a bite that lasts long into the finish. Very nice.

Wow! I think I’ve finally found a double IPA that I can’t handle! I don’t know if Simcoe hops are Genetically Modified or not, but this thing was out of control. Big everything.

12oz. A nice orange-amber hue with a nice pure white head which really did have great retention. Aroma was a mix of pine notes and orange notes. Sorry no grapefruits. Flavor initially had a fruity malt base, mainly a orange note, but i too could sense a slight peach presence to it too. Finish was of hops, sweet sweet hops. One disappointment was it did seem to be medium bodied. It could have been thicker on the tongue.
