Summer citrus fruit garden and pollen scent that lulls before the strong character of the brew. Sweet and sappy with hops balanced on a perfect scale with alcohol and base.
An ever evolving surface lends to the feeling that the glass is a living creature or a bubbling witches brew. Magical ale for a cool summer night. Elwood (677), Leesburg, Virginia, USA

Appearance: Pours a hazy, ruddy brown with a sizeable, foamy, light tan head. Great lacing left behind.
Aroma: The nose is decidedly spruce with a little citrus in the back and some resin thrown in too. A definite showcase for the simcoe hops.
Taste: Enamel eating hops, chocolate (?), over ripe citrus. Sweet, piney hops up front, a brief gap, then a powerful bitterness.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel. Long bitter finish with a touch of dryness.
Overall: What an experience! Well balanced and a pleasure to drink. A must have. Lagunitasfan (433), San Diego, California, USA

Hops and cat pee. Tastes chewy and nutty. Sweet and fruity to bitter hop. Good one. RHeastings (395), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 3, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a nice medium to slightly light copper color, with a white head that fades fairly quickly. The label doesn’t lie, as there is a very highly perceptable aromatic note of the catty/danky/musky signature of Simcoe hops. The palate brings a nice smooth bitterness up front, a ton of resiny hop flavor, and a solid foundation of malt. Overall, one of the best double IPAs I’ve had. Kestral (198), Oslo, Norway
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 3, 2009 Bottle. Dark reddish brown with a small head. Leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma is just a ton of citrus and resin, and half a ton of caramel malts. Huge aroma, very promising. It gives the tongue a good beating, massive amounts of bitterness just barely kept in check by the sugary caramel malts. Medium body, fairly smooth carbonation. If you want a hop bomb that just barely doesn’t tip the scale and become too bitter, this is it. TheCaptain (549), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

Citrus and pine with hops dominating. For me the combo of resin and citric spice gave it an odd complexity, missing the malt. DeadGirl (215), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA

Pours a hazy copper hue. Aroma is 100% hops. Taste is of 100% hops, with some caramel, grapefruit peel, pine, and other faint, earthy flavors added in there. My preference is the more hops, the better. This beer has what I’m looking for. 25072009, DG. Tommyp007 (27), Kingsport, Tennessee, USA

Ok, so I’m new to Imperial/Double IPA’s, and I really couldn’t get behind this one. It looked good out of the bottle, smelled strong of grapefruit and other citrus, but the flavor just seemed "off". I’ll keep trying, but I may stick with regular IPA’s, which seem more to my palate.
