Commercial Description:
Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well. Draft and bottles, 12 oz. in PA, 22 oz. out of state (as we have no 6-packs),

Dark clear amber pour with white head, aroma bursting with hoppy grapefruit, citrus, and a nice piney scent from the simcoe. Knew I’d like this brew, and delivered with nice citrus in the forefront with a nice lasting bitterness. Excellent DIPA!

Bottle Corked/Caged. Pours a nice golden colro with a huge head and everlasting lacing. A regular staple in my refrigerator. The large bottle was unfiltered which added a nice touch of complexity. Love the simcoe hops nice bitter bite in the mouth. A great brew.

Pours an appetizing dark coppery amber with a thick, off-white, fine-bubbled head that sticks around for a bit. Aroma is rich and hoppy to the point of being piny with a strong citrus overtone. Flavor is strongly hoppy, a little bitter with just a touch of citrus, more orange than lemon. Texture is smooth as milk but pleasingly fizzy and tingly. One of the best IPAs I have ever had! I strongly recommend this to all IPA fans.

Thick-hazed, pulp-riddled body of dark amber under a thick and creamy ecru head. Big pine and grapefruit aroma with caramel behind. Surprising amount of sweetness to the flavor before a sharp dose of resiny pine and lemon takes over. This flavor lingers long afterwards with additional peppery notes. ABV apparent late. Pretty incredible. ~~~~~~~~~~ Single 12 oz. bottle cellared for about 2 years, purchased somewhere in PA.

750 bottle from ygtbsm94. Thanks Brad. Pours a cloudy amber color with a huge beige head that has great retention and plenty of lacing. The aroma is moderately strong with pine, salt, light citrus and sweat. The flavor is biter hops forward with a good bite from spicy simcoe hops. Other tastes--pine, green herbs, citrus and caramel. The mouthfeel is full and smooth. The finish is long with lingering biter hops, which are harsh at times. Overall: A very enjoyable if not a bit to harsh IPA.

12 oz bottle, 2009 version: hazed orange with an ivory cream around the edges. Raw, bitter hop cone aroma with undertones of pink peppercorns, pine, and musty straw. Palate is thick and gooey with huge amounts of hops and strong grapefruit rind flavours. Strong malt bill follows the onslaught of hops and offers a sweetness to counter the bitterness....the sweetness opens further to expose wonderful vanilla notes, honey and light brown sugar. A wonderful beer.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy strawberry red color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is predominantly hop notes with citrus and peppery notes. Some like caramel malty notes as well. Taste is very hoppy with bitter resinous hops notes and some citrus. Toffee malts attempt to complete, but just can’t, which is OK. Full bodied with a sticky texture.

Bottle from goldtwins, thanks Larry! Murky orange-brown with a medium tan head that leaves spotty lacing. Aroma is heavy pine and citrus hops with a nice balancing act of caramel malt. A lot of spiciness comes through and I like the smell of those simcoes. Nicely balanced for a DIPA which means it’s hoppy as hell but there is enough malt in there to keep it in check. Pine, grapefruit, sweet caramel malt, fruit and alcohol are the flavors I taste in this kick ass beer! Bitterness is moderate but it tends to grow as time moves along. Palate is smooth though some abrasiveness comes from the hops. A different, but really good, DIPA!
