3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from 1 pint 9oz bottle with cork. Color is a cloudy brown/amber. head is a barely-there off-white color. aroma is more of malt than of hops, sort of a weak hop aroma out of the gate--perhaps by using a bittering (and not aroma) hop, they arrived at that. 9% ABV makes this brew taste a bit boozey and warming. Flavors are almost cloying, in my opinion, but probably need to be to try and balance such a high alcohol content. Otherwise, flavors are excellent. Interesting to taste a beer that isolates one hop variety. A good beer in it’s own right, but perhaps too one-dimensional. Won’t buy another, but an interesting beer if you want to know what a single hop flavor represents. Interesting enough that I might try to experiment with hopping my own homebrew with just one hop to experience it.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Big sweet nose with little direct hop aroma. Deep amber color with a spongy head. Warm round body of malt with a heavy dose of alcohol that injects hops into the corners of the mouth. Not so bitter actually though the flavor is characterized by hops. Slight alcohol burn after swallow and a peppery finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled 5/13/14. Consumed 7/30/14. Pours a bright Orange with a one and a half finger, off white head that laces well and a lot of fine sediment. Aroma has nice notes of pine, slight resin, and tropical tangerine, and slight alcohol Taste is a strong bitter with big, pungent resin, pine, citrus, slight bread, alcohol, and a drawn put aftertaste. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Resiny texture in the mouth with a dry finish. Overall a nice beer. Great display of the hop.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sötét borostyán, opálos színéhez foghatóval csak a kategória legnagyobbjai rendelkeznek, mindenesetre már jó előre belopja magát a szívünkbe, még azelőtt, hogy a mázsányi komló jelenlétének bizonyítékaként előtörő nehéz gyantás, néhol ecetes savanykásságba, majd hagymalekváros édességbe, mézes élesztősségbe átcsapó illatáradat teljesen levenne minket a lábunkról. Sziruposan indul, masszív test fogad minket, melyet természetesen az amerikai komló szivárványszínű, agresszív keserűsége ural egy enyhe, citrusos érintéssel. Minden kortyot öntetszerű, mézes édesség övez, mely csodásan kiegyensúlyozza az összhatást, remekül kerekíti le az ízeket. Mindez egy átható, élesztős lepelbe burkolva, melynek maradványai egyébként jól láthatóvá is válnak a pohárban. Egy gyengédnek a legkevésbé sem mondható, markánsan keserű, mégis gazdag és rendkívüli módon élvezhető ízvilág, mely egyértelműen a műfaj legnagyobb remekei közé emeli ezt a mesterművet.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Oooh, aaah, little bit too much sea monkeys bobbing about in the glass. It is almost bright but the yeast here is almost off putting as it floats about giving it a negative vibe. Head is a soppy mess of dense foam, beigish, messy; great lace. Pungent, resinous, fresh hop nose bursting with notes of pine-needles, camphor, eucalypt gum, tree sap and blackbutt honey, fresh baked brioche and lemon candy. Very English in delivery. Floral on the palate with a Nottingham yeast vibe. Fragrant, zesty, spirited pot pourri and rose petal flavour. Biscuity, bready and heavy in the finish. Alcohol is well masked and well behaved making it dangerous. Short in the swallow. Huge presence of orange zest and juice. Body is medium and very oily. Massive bitter edge breaks it up. Quite nice. Really sessionable, which is trouble. (12fl.Oz, Bottled 26/03/13, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Love it! Never had anything from Weyerbacher until this one and I’m super impressed. Lots of piney grapefruit on the aroma. Super fresh smelling. The taste is spot on. Well balanced super bitter. Lots of pine, grapefruit and some woodsy stuff on the taste. Super refreshing just awesome beer. I love the use of only Simcoe hops here, it really shows what the hop does and how it tastes. Definitely will be having this again.

poured into a snifter, with a light amber color, had a nice nose of pine and grapefruit with the taste providing more of the same with a balanced flavor profile and slight malty background with a bit of an alcohol burn at the end. a well done brew and a good reminder of why i love the simcoe hop

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle poured into Dogfish IPA glass.
Pours a deep, hazy, opaque copper with a creamy head. Strong citrus and grapefruit notes on the nose with resiny back notes.
Mild carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a bit sticky. Sweet maltiness plays against the strong hops. Bitterness hangs on the palate for long enough.
Weyerbacher does it again.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a snifter and a tulip. There was basically the same look and smell in both glasses.
The appearance had a nice ruddy orange coloring to it with a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. The lacing stuck nicely to both glasses.
The smell had a nice spicy and piney aroma running under my nose.
The taste had a decent bitter piney and slightly citrusy flavoring. There was a nice sharp bitter citrus aftertaste and it had a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium in body with a fairly good sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was appropriately harsh for the style.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good DIPA well worthy of having again.
