COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well. Draft and bottles, 12 oz. in PA, 22 oz. out of state (as we have no 6-packs),

Appearance was a clear golden orange with streaming bubbles. A half finger white head lingered a few minutes. Aroma was mild with hints of grapefruit zest and earthy hops with just a bit of pine. Flavor profile consisted of nice bitter grapefruit followed by a malty backbone immediately hitting you with huge linger bittering hops. Mostly earthiness of grass and pine. Mouthfeel is just above light with moderate carbonation.

From a bottle, 7 days prior to the 6 month limit indicated on the bottle. Pours a nice clear amber with healthy beige head that fades to a ring leaving spotty lacing. Aroma is malt forward, probably due to the age. These guys nailed the expiration date, because the hops are fading fast on this one. I could imagine this being even better fresh, since the rest of the structure is solid. Taste is pineapple juice thatís about to spoil, with bready malts in the aftertaste, just barely avoiding the spoiled hop flavor. Not much alcohol. Iíd like to try a fresher sample.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2014 @ rattle n hum NYC. Pours thick golden brown with an off white head. Nose is piney, caramel, malt... Pretty much same for taste, way too malty for my liking.. A tad sweet. Doesnít taste boozy, but something seems off.. Maybe itís an old keg but these guys are usually on topíoíthat ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Bottle: Dense amber with faint, red hints; completely opaque, topped with a beige, silky, creamy foam head. Aroma is floral, perfume-like, dank, wet, & full of spicy hops, pine needles, & white pepper. High hops & high malt, as thereís a big sweetness backing things up, too. Finishing aromas of toast, caramel, light residuals, orange peel, & grapefruit rind. Taste is weedy, dank, & full of pine needles up front... Wet grass, flowers, pepper, & spicy citrus peel. The hops transition quickly, though, to a quite malt-heavy mid-palate & finale. Sugary, toasted caramel & toffee malts with a faint buttery note. Quite sweet, the lingering aftertaste is almost barley wine-esque at this point. Wide gradient from front to back. Thick, heavy, sticky. Starts off nice, but I didnít love the sticky sweet destination where it ended up.

Pours cloudy dark amber with slight head. Aroma of pine and grass from pour. Taste is medium to strong bitter. Good and smooth. Almost medicinal from the 9% abv but is a good imperial. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The appearance is cloudy amber, with a white head. the aroma is citrus, grapefruit, alcohol. The taste is malt up front with some caramel and citrus, followed by grapefruit and pine. at the very end it finishes with the distinctive taste of the simcoe hops. The palate is heavy, but no over bearing, nice complement with the flavor. Overall this is really good, and its a nice relaxing beer to drink.

bottle, from base camp in prague. amber with a thin but persistent head; aroma of pine, grapefruit and mango nectar; loads of bitterness, surprisingly dry yet zesty. doesnít surprise you with the characteristics of its flavour and aroma, just with their intensity

Bottle, many thanks to coldbrewky. dark orange color with medium off-white head. Fruity and malty aroma. Taste, solid malty base with caramel followed by nice portion of hops with grapefruit, oranges, mango, lychee, tangerines, orange zest, pines, spices. Long hoppy bitter finish. Tasty.
