COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well. Draft and bottles, 12 oz. in PA, 22 oz. out of state (as we have no 6-packs),

poured into a snifter, with a light amber color, had a nice nose of pine and grapefruit with the taste providing more of the same with a balanced flavor profile and slight malty background with a bit of an alcohol burn at the end. a well done brew and a good reminder of why i love the simcoe hop

Bottle poured into Dogfish IPA glass. Pours a deep, hazy, opaque copper with a creamy head. Strong citrus and grapefruit notes on the nose with resiny back notes. Mild carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a bit sticky. Sweet maltiness plays against the strong hops. Bitterness hangs on the palate for long enough. Weyerbacher does it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a snifter and a tulip. There was basically the same look and smell in both glasses. The appearance had a nice ruddy orange coloring to it with a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. The lacing stuck nicely to both glasses. The smell had a nice spicy and piney aroma running under my nose. The taste had a decent bitter piney and slightly citrusy flavoring. There was a nice sharp bitter citrus aftertaste and it had a dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium in body with a fairly good sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was appropriately harsh for the style. Overall, I say this was a pretty good DIPA well worthy of having again.

Tasted on 6/12/14 from a capped 12oz bottle purchased at Maine Wine and Cheese. Pours lightly hazy amber with an average off-white head that slowly recedes to average lace. The nose is pine resin hops with some nice caramel and brown sugar malt. The flavor is about the same, this is a very nicely balanced DIPA, with plenty of pleasant bitterness. The body is a sticky medium plus with average carbonation and a long bitter resin hops and burnt brown sugar finish.

Transfer from BA review on 4-6-12 - Served in a 10 oz chalice glass Appearance – Served a hazy amber color with a medium white head. The head faded relatively fast giving some nice lacing. Smell – The smell was of earthy hop mainly. There were also some nice hints of citrus and a very light pine. All the hop aromas mixed with a nice bready aroma. Taste – The taste was of a bready base with a good dose of citrus hop up front. The citrus gives way to a bit to some more earthy flavors toward the middle of the taste. There is a very interesting melon flavor that develops more toward the end of the taste. It’s odd, but very nice. Overall the taste is complex and nice with many other subtle flavors that rise and fall throughout the taste. Mouthfeel – The body was higher than average in creaminess with a medium level of carbonation. The beer felt very nice on the tongue and complemented the taste profile well. Overall – This was a very nice, easy drinking DIPA. Very well done.

Tap. Cloudy copper color. Small off white head. Aroma of....simcoe. Delicious. Not cloying or overly bitter. Surprisingly smooth at 9%. Great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
