3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a 12 ounce bottle into a shaker pint.
A: Huge blast of citrus and pine hop notes. Apricot, pineapple, orange, pine needle. Just what Iím after in a DPA -- liquid christmas tree.
A: Pours a murky amber-ruby with a one-finger off-white head. Nice retention that leaves a crown. Emphasis on MURKY.....
T: Very strong citrus burst at the beginning that turns into a piney hopness monster. Slight alcohol bite that balances out the bitterness.
P: Medium-full bodied with low-moderate carbonation. Hop resins coat the tongue fully, even in the aftertaste.
O: The Simcoe character really shines here. My only complaint is that the alcohol bite is a little abrasive, but itís still a nice DIPA.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle into snifter glass, hazy rusty-amber color with cream colored head. Aroma of strong pine/grapefruit hops, heavy malt sweetness, light fruitiness and faint woody note. Taste adds notes of caramel, berries, lemon rind, dried fruit (prunes mainly) and honey. Heavy body, low carbonation, sticky, syrupy, dry with lingering citrus bitter finish. A monster yet balanced DIPA, showcases the complexity of the simcoe hop well.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep amber, some brown, moderate haze, light tan head medium retention. Aroma of woods and red berries, some sweetness. Flavor starts with a cherry like essence, moves into some sweetness with resin, fades in a long slow finish with strong woody bitterness. Quite nice.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Iíll be honest here, its too much. I donít know if my taste buds have turned but I feel this is just a full-on-in-your-face-malty-hoppy-behemoth that lacks that refined taste. I prefer light body ipaís so I may be biased, but the malt sweetness is too much. Apricot juice, thats its.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Big sweet nose with little direct hop aroma. Deep amber color with a spongy head. Warm round body of malt with a heavy dose of alcohol that injects hops into the corners of the mouth. Not so bitter actually though the flavor is characterized by hops. Slight alcohol burn after swallow and a peppery finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled 5/13/14. Consumed 7/30/14. Pours a bright Orange with a one and a half finger, off white head that laces well and a lot of fine sediment. Aroma has nice notes of pine, slight resin, and tropical tangerine, and slight alcohol Taste is a strong bitter with big, pungent resin, pine, citrus, slight bread, alcohol, and a drawn put aftertaste. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Resiny texture in the mouth with a dry finish. Overall a nice beer. Great display of the hop.
