Lemon lime mango, with a resiny background. Flavor is more resiny, and my east coast bias shows here, as this is quite balanced with a full rounded caramelly sweet bready malt palate. Finishes nicely bitter. Appealing amber-copper color, crystal clear, with a solid thick creamy head. Volgon (2490), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

Fresh citrusy hops in the aroma with flowers and pine. Full bodied with soft carbonation, and a sticky mouthfeel, starts and ends bitter with a long bitter aftertaste. A very cloudy brown / amber colored beer with an off white head that quickly forms a ring. Aroma is very sweet and very fruity. Some caramel as well. Flavor jumps up and down and screams "I am hops!" Grapefruit and pine but with a full caramel malt profile. A very aggressive flavor and it has to be the best tasting double IPA I have had. Just delicious (and I am not a hophead). Big, bold, ballsy, brash. Late in the glass some nice dark fruit shows up. That was unexpected. Alcohol isn’t tasted but provides warming and my liver is not happy with me. I can get a transplant, give me another one of these! gwfrankpsu (231), McKinleyville, California, USA

Golden amber color with a nice foamy head that provided nice lace. Very good aroma, grapefruit, pineapple and a hint of pine. Wonderful balance between the maltiness and the Simcoe hops and the hops do come across at the end. While not a session beer this one is a keeper. vyvvy (2069), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 21, 2006 Many thanks to Beerdrenched for picking this IIPA up for me. Pours medium / dark copper with a thick dense tan head. Aroma is heavy on the floral hos with a good amount of caramel malt for balance. Some pine aspects as well. Not quite as assertive as you’d expect for 9%. Medium / full body with lots of gentle carbonation. Taste has floral hops that are full and rich with help from the malt. Bits of sweetness are in here as well as traces of woodiness. The finish brings out more wood and pine with the carbonation.giving a prickly sensation. Thick and bold enough to believe it is as strong as it is, but you don’t taste much of the ABV. Excellent IIPA. Suttree (2751), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Very enjoyable aroma - ctirusy mostly, but a big presence of pine resin, too./ Flavors are smokey and earthy, with quite a bit of grapefruit, too. Background notes of caramel, too, and perhaps even some molasses. Thanks to Springslicker for picking this one up for me. jazz88 (2239), San Francisco, California, USA

A lush smooth grassy hop aroma and flavor. Sweet and well balanced with a bitter finish. Grapefruit, pineapple, and peach accents. Foxbush (468), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2007 Updated: Oct 25, 2007This was an outstanding IPA. It was recommended by the waitress at Capital House. The IPA was special! The head was smooth about one finger in thicknes. The flavor of citrus was dominate. The 9% ABV was hidden by the hops and maltiness. I will be enjoyiong this IPA in the future. The amber color and head were very inviting from the beginning. I enjoyed another in October 2007. Just as good as the first.
