Commercial Description:
Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well. Draft and bottles, 12 oz. in PA, 22 oz. out of state (as we have no 6-packs),

Pours a cloudy rust or amber. Aroma of sour keys, grapefruit and some basic caramel malts. Rich, sweet and roasted malt flavours nearly dominate a crisp hop finish. Moderately bitter and full bodied. Lasting hop finish.

Bottle thanks to ucusty. Pours with a very large, creamy thick, off-white head covering a hazy, deep orang body. Fantastic lacing and full retention. Aroma is beautiful citrus hops with tons of caramel. Taste is a bit hot up front with matls and finishing with a nice bitterness. Alcohol is clearly there in the taste, but it is great in its hop bomb goodness. Creamy mouthfeel coupled with playful carbonation.

22oz. bomber: This one pours a hazy orangish-amber color. There was a bit of a frothy tan head on it that dropped off somewhat quickly. It left some lacing. Both the citrus and pine hops are quite obvious to the nose, yet they seem to be balanced nicely. The pine and citrus notes of the hops are evident in the taste, and are well balanced also. Potent but not over the top. Actually a hint of malt sweetness in the finish. This one is pretty well done!

Poured from a 12-oz bottle a dark amber color. Not surprising, a hoppy aroma was real prevelant. Taste of citrus and pine in the hops, but could taste some malt coming through also. Although mostly, it was about the hops.

I like IPA’s but this beer was just TOO strong for me. I liked the first half of it but by the end my mouth was just raw. TOO HOPPY!

Pours a nice bright susnset orange color with a thick off white, foamy head that leaves thick lacing around the glass. This one looks really nice. The aroma shows notes of citrus fruits, piney and grapefruit hops, and a nig caramel malt background. The flavor shows much the same with the citrus and piney hops grabbing hold followed strongly by a rich, caramel and toffee malt backbone. The malts add a nice sweet flavor to the profile. Medium bodied and easy drinking with a great mouthfeel. Very easy to drink with a long, grapefruit hop finish that is nice. This is a good dipa that I could drink often, but it is not quite in the elite category.
