durhambeer (378), Durham, North Carolina, USA Feb 21, 2008 Had this a few months ago when it was still warm out... tried it with lunch and it was way too much for me at the time. Tried again tonight and was surprised how much I liked it. NIce resiny, bitter, piney hops, but still some nice fruit. Not the best double IPA I’ve had, but certainly not the worst. Will definitely try again, but not as much as Hopslam or Hercules. I prefer the slightly more citrusy stuff, but this is a nice presentation of the simcoe hops.
grimreeser (662), Minnesota, USA Aug 20, 2008 Pours a nice amber, nice lacing. Big aroma, citrus and pine. Nice sweetness, but the bitterness is a bit too much. I’ll pick some up for you OG. nqualls (113), Tennessee, USA Aug 19, 2008 4 pack of 12 ozers purchased at Brawley’s in Charlotte. Poured into a Karmeliet tulip glass a hazy orange/gold color with a one finger whitish head. Medium amount of lacing. Aroma was awesome. Nose was a combination of citrus pine. Flavor was well balanced with a slightly sweet malt taste up front with the bitter hops on the end. Medium-full bodied with good carbonation. Great Beer. cgarvieuk (2302), Edinburgh, Scotland Aug 18, 2008 Bottle in Shefiled...copper,rich piney hop resins, sweet resiny american hop, tart and juicy gameface23 (77), Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA Aug 15, 2008 I poured this one and I knew I was in for a good time. Hazy orange-red with a bubbly, cream colored head. The smell was amazing: hop dominated with equal parts grapefruit and pine. Beautiful mouthfeel. The only negative was that the finish was a bit too bitter. LIGONIER (4), Ligonier, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Aug 15, 2008 This beer was a surprise. I’m always looking for that Big Hop beer that will knock my socks off, and this is the real deal. Aroma was pure hops, like freshly cut from the field. Smooth going down the the bitter hop ending that opens the senses.
