Rich banana bread flavor without being too sweet or overpowering. Very reminiscent of overripe banana in the finish. Better as it warms up.

Transfer from BA review on 7-29-13- Served on tap in a chalice glass Appearance – Served a deep mahogany colored brew bordering on brown with a tiny white fizzy head. The head fades very rapidly leaving only a very trace level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is quite sweet overall with lots of cherry, prune and plum as well as some more sugary smells of a more molasses nature. With the sweeter smells there are also a decent amount of wheat and brown bread aromas. Rounding out the aroma is a light spice smell, some banana and a alcohol aroma which overall add more sweetness and a more warming smell to the brew. Taste – The taste begins with a bready and wheaty taste with lots of dark fruit flavors of cherry, plum and prune. While smoother upfront, as the taste moves on it becomes more grainy and harsh in nature. Quickly following the initial tastes the wheat flavors grow more grainy in nature with the bready flavors becoming more roasted and brown bread in nature. All the while a boozy and burning alcohol flavor comes to the tongue. The alcohol starts out lighter but gets quite strong in the end with a rather potent banana and peppery spice flavor coming as well. With the combination of flavors that are left on the tongue at the end a hot and boozy, grainy brown bread and sweet dark fruit flavor, which do not meld all that well, are left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. The chewier nature is nice for the wheat and brown bread flavors of the brew, but gives way to much time for all the hot boozy flavors to linger on the tongue. Overall – A little too hot in boozy flavors with all the tastes never really come into concert with each other. This was not one I would likely go to again or recommend for regular production.

Bottle. Poured an hazy brown color with a minimal frothy off-white head that mostly diminished with little lacing. Medium to heavy complex malt, banana and spice aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Sweet drinkable beer.

Not bad at all. Nice musky basement feel. A touch of citrus and a little oaky. Slightly floral. Finishes with some sourness and light sweetness. Light brown without much head or lacing. Good body. Bottle.

Pours reddish amber with a small head. Nose is all malt. A bit sticky but well carbonated. Flavor is delicious and the finish is sweet. Way to easy to drink for the ABV, but oh so very yummy.

Dark, dank, clear ruby red-brown. Minimal head and lace. Really sweet aroma of dark fruit, chocolate, cinnamon, spices, roasted malts, bread, wheat. Flavor is semi-sweet chocolate, dark fruits, dark malts, yeast, spices and sugar. Thin body and dry. Strooooonnng beer. Oh yeah it is. Complex.

Bottle. Killer beer. Very deep amber brown pour with a small dense cream head that laces well. Nice banana element on top of bread and chocolate, plus some dark fruit. Many layers to enjoy, and they are complementary. Excellent brew.

Bottle from ? (Hate it when I don’t write on the label). Looks brown, but strong light shows it to be very dark ruddy. Head was slight and transient. Aroma is malty/bready and rather dark fruit/spicy. Full bodied. Flavor is chocolate, dark fruit (like plums!), a little earthy (phenol?), and finally the banana ester thing. It’s not exactly dry (:)) and it’s rather alcoholic (which took me a bit to notice). Yet it’s a wonderful drink. I’m thinking bottle conditioning is really helping this one. The carbonation is sort of champagne/spritely. All it needs is a few more prunes. :))

Tap at Sugar Maple. Tiny snifter. This beer is nice. Massive, big beer. Retains its Weizenbock character while truly imperializing. Banana chocolate tones. Wow. Unfiltered, blissfully malty, lots of depth. Complex. World Class. Massive, yet delicate. Well done.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/3/2013. Pours very hazy deep ruby red color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big banana, raisin, plum, fig, bubblegum, clove, molasses, caramel, cocoa, toast, brown bread, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast ester and dark malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big banana, raisin, plum, fig, bubblegum, clove, molasses, caramel, cocoa, toast, brown bread, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light wheat tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of banana, raisin, plum, fig, bubblegum, clove, molasses, cocoa, toast, brown bread, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and dark malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full bodied; with a very creamy, moderately slick, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice weizenbock style. Good balance, complexity, and robustness of fruity/earthy yeast and dark malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
