Rich banana bread flavor without being too sweet or overpowering. Very reminiscent of overripe banana in the finish. Better as it warms up.

Found four pack a beer store in NJ. Aged 2 years. Fridge chilled and served in beer mug. No head, no lacing. Malty aromas. Bready and yeasty notes. Taste is moderatly sweet. Some notes of raisin and other dried fruit. Some banana esters. Some chocolate in finish. Alcohol taste is present. Thick texture. Fairly light carbonation. Personally not an expert on the style. Overall tasty strong brew. Enjoyable. Would try again, but then again it was a one time release two years ago, so that is unlikely.

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2015 Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of big sugar, dark fruit, toffee, molasses, some slight spice into a bit of yeast, slight grain. Taste was a mix of dark fruit, caramel, toffee into a bit of sugar, slight fruit, finishing very sweet.

from Mondial de la Bière 2013, Mulhouse - cloudy dark brown beer without foam left; fruity aroma of prunes, banana and black cherries; hints of brown sugar; thick and hugely sweet, sticky finish with notes of apples, banana and a lot of residual sweetness

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with trace orange highlights and a minimal beige head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was malty, wheaty and bready with cola, dark fruits, wood, anise and a medicinal presence. The flavor was tangy cherry, plum, wood, bread, cola and a medicinal presence. Reminded me a lot of cherry flavored cough syrup. Long finish and the medicinal presence grows. Moderately full bodied but a bit flat. Pretty awful.

Dark brown, almost purplish pour with ring of offwhite head. Big and boozy even after 18 months, but in a good way. Nice warming on the way down. Plum, raisin, and banana. Slight twinge of medicinal phenols. Classic for style, but as an imperial version. Would definitely drink again.

Bottle... Pours clear and dark copper with a small, beige head that’s gone faster than you can say "quick." The aroma presents phenolic spiciness, toasted caramel, roasted nuts and booziness - almost la liquor barrel character. No banana ester detected here. Medium to full-bodied with a slick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor is sweet and malty, accompanied by a lightly spicy, phenolic component. Finishes malty-sweet and warming. Wow! The ABV here is much higher than I would have guessed.

Bottle: Very dark brown with a small beige ring. Chocolate, banana, boozy scents. Taste is sweet, boozy, banana and chocolate malt, dark wheat. Sweet, fairly mild for the ABV. Pretty good.

Bottle. Banana, light chocolate malt and strong alcohol aroma. Cloudy brown with minimal head. Sweet banana, clove, chocolate, wheat malt and moderately bitter herb and alcohol flavor. Okay but very boozy.

Solid beer with a ton of flavor. Just wasn't right for my pallet. Maybe I don't like Weizenbocks.

Transfer from BA review on 7-29-13- Served on tap in a chalice glass Appearance – Served a deep mahogany colored brew bordering on brown with a tiny white fizzy head. The head fades very rapidly leaving only a very trace level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is quite sweet overall with lots of cherry, prune and plum as well as some more sugary smells of a more molasses nature. With the sweeter smells there are also a decent amount of wheat and brown bread aromas. Rounding out the aroma is a light spice smell, some banana and a alcohol aroma which overall add more sweetness and a more warming smell to the brew. Taste – The taste begins with a bready and wheaty taste with lots of dark fruit flavors of cherry, plum and prune. While smoother upfront, as the taste moves on it becomes more grainy and harsh in nature. Quickly following the initial tastes the wheat flavors grow more grainy in nature with the bready flavors becoming more roasted and brown bread in nature. All the while a boozy and burning alcohol flavor comes to the tongue. The alcohol starts out lighter but gets quite strong in the end with a rather potent banana and peppery spice flavor coming as well. With the combination of flavors that are left on the tongue at the end a hot and boozy, grainy brown bread and sweet dark fruit flavor, which do not meld all that well, are left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. The chewier nature is nice for the wheat and brown bread flavors of the brew, but gives way to much time for all the hot boozy flavors to linger on the tongue. Overall – A little too hot in boozy flavors with all the tastes never really come into concert with each other. This was not one I would likely go to again or recommend for regular production.
