3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured a slightly opaque brown color with a tan head. Some retention and no lace. Aroma was okay, hints of bread and candied-sugar. Some dark fruits and a mild banana note. Alcohol presence was a little over the top. Flavor seemed to be more sweet than anything else. Some wheat notes and some fruity esters, but that were dominated by a almost cloyingly sweet presence. Alcohol was too high. I like higher ABV beers, but with this beer it seemed off.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Location/Date:Bottle on December 13th, 2013.
Appearance: Pours a dark brown opaque.
Aroma: Aroma of wheat, banana, lightly sweet.
Taste: Wheat, then some banana, faint clove.
Palate:Medium light, lingering aftertaste, covers alcohol well.
Summary: I enjoyed this beer, but as it warmed up the flavor had a bit too much banana for me.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
(bottle) Pours a clear dark reddish-brown color with a thin tan ring around the glass. Have to knock it a bit in appearance for not possessing the trademark effervescent head seen in the exemplars of the style. Aroma is exactly what Iím looking for, as itís a massive hit of banana (Runts candy-like and the actual overripe fruit), grape jelly, bubblegum, and then even more ripe banana. Quite possibly the most banana-forward aroma Iíve smelled in a wheat beer. Decent amount of booze here too, but the banana really keeps it from singeing. Flavor is stronger in the caramel department than the aroma would have me believe, with again some banana thatís not as intense. The finish reminds you this is a wheat beer with a chalky dryness showing and a bit of bread as well; certainly not crisp like the more refined examples. Palate is full, sticky, and as mentioned, chalky towards the end. Booze oddly doesnít impose too much here. Overall this is a beer that is over the top, imbalanced, and unrefined, but since weizenbocks are tied for my favorite style with hefes, I really enjoyed having every flavor and aroma I love from the style being accentuated in such a straightforward and intense manner. If youíre a fan of weizenbocks and donít mind bigger beers, this is worth seeking out to try.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Save On. Dark brown with garnet hue, dense head and lace. Tangy bready wheaty banana clove aroma with hints of dark fruit and chocolate and alcohol. Chocolate caramel and dark fruity wheaty tangy with mild earthy bitterness and chocolatey tangy finish. Full very creamy body. A little hot. Maybe too much of everything as opposed to Aventinus, which is pretty much perfect. Still, a very good sipper.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle in a snifter. Pours deep brown with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of dark malts, some chocolate, dark fruits, a little wheat, alcohol, and light bitterness. Flavor the same. Average texture. An interesting beer but a little too strong and sweet for my preferences.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Could be I waited too long to drink this one, but it was really sweet, too sweet actually. The sweet malts, chocolate and banana notes, overpower the hops. Itís not bad, just not great either. But I accidentally aged it for two months in the back of my fridge so it could be my fault, not the beerís.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a dark brown with just a thin beige ring of foam around the perimeter of the glass. The aroma has notes of boozy dark fruits, figs, some toffee, a little alcohol. The taste has rich darkened fruit complexities, leather, very sweet. Some drying alcohol comes through in the finish and warms the throat. Subtle carbonation with a thick mouthfeel.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle. Served in a mug, the beer pours a dark ruby red/brown color with about an inch light tan head that sticks around a while. Thereís also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like cloves, bananas, dark fruit, wheat, and some caramel. It tastes pretty much just like the aroma, but with the addition of some chocolate and toffee. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit creamy and coating with moderate carbonation. I think itís a good overall brew, definitely worth a try. $3.99 for a single bottle.

Smooth for 11%. Wow. Syrupy sweet, very malt-forward. Brown sugar and molasses. Interesting and complex.
