Commercial Description:
This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. This silky-smooth brew has notes of oak, whiskey, roasted barley and vanilla that meld together on the tongue to create an incredible sensation. Heresy is released in February.

22 oz bomber from the east brought to a meet-up in the west. Intense black pour with a very carbonated tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roasty malt, some bourbon and vanilla. Nice thick mouthfeel with a warming bourbon burn as the temp increases. Nice smooth chocolate and coffee flavor up front with a solid whiskey burn at the end. Probably my favorite of the east coast brews my buddy brought out west.

12oz bottle. black pour with a big bubbly tan head. milk chocolate, oak, roasted malt, vanilla, whiskey - all sorts happening in the aroma. thinner than expected texture in the taste - light to medium and slick. woody coffee and chocolate imp stout flavors. dry finish. bourbon comes through a bit more as it warms - as does the alcohol. Not sure what to make of this one. good, but not quite great. I have three more to elaborate and update.

Bottle at Akkurat, Stockholm; vintage 2006 or 2007
Black like the centre of the universe, with a huge and thick head. It has a very nice aroma of chocolate malt, roasted malt, vanilla; very creamy aroma. Good body structure, surely less thick than many American samples, quite smooth mouthfeel; the chocolate and caramel flavor are well mixed together, with moderate sweetness; there is very light liquorice and vanilla, and almost no roasted malt (for me, a good thing). I find that the final is lacking a bit of bitterness, of depth; not even really long enough. Anyway, a highly enjoyable beer.

Sampled at the Bockyhorsey tasting, courtesy of rustychiles. Deep black color pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and barley, coffee, and just a hint of vanilla and wood. Flavor is much the same, starting sweet with a roasty, slightly bitter finish. Good stuff!

22oz bomber thanks to Jah Noth. Pours dark brown, with a non existent head, almost an oily surface. Aromas of roasted malt, bourbon, some coffee, and a hint of vanilla. Flavors are similar, sweet malts up front with a smooth whiskey finish. Although the palate is a little thin, this is a very smooth beer that is going down easy. Thanks again Dan.
