Commercial Description:
This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. This silky-smooth brew has notes of oak, whiskey, roasted barley and vanilla that meld together on the tongue to create an incredible sensation. Heresy is released in February.

Pours extremely dark. Very smooth flavor with a hint of almost vanilla over top of the very "roasty" espresso bean flavor. An incredible stout that I will absolutely hunt down again.

pours black as night with large tan head. aroma is roasted with oak coffee, and toffee. really night flavor, burnt toffee on the back of the tongue, bitter chocolate, esspresso, with a great depth. very rich and full bodied. Imperial stout at its best with some age and great character.

Bomber courtesy of GMCC2181. Pours an opaque black with huge 3 finger tan head. Nose is mild oaky bourbon, roasted malt and alcohol. Taste is vanilla, coffee, oak, a touch of booze and a bitter chocolate/hoppy finish. Medium, semi-creamy mouth feel. I enjoyed this one – good IS. Thanks Golly G!

Black with small beige head. Aroma of strong smoky oat/vanilla component backed by chocolate, roast, and faintly sweet fruits. I like the nose! Flavor is odd and a little watery; it’s composed mainly of sweet malts, dark chocolate, and what is probably the bourbon. IThe palate seems a little weak. Overall though, this is a quality beer.

Taste 7/8. Aroma: Mmmm....chocolate, espresso, whiskey, raisin. Looks: Nice tan foam riding a black opaque body. Taste: Espresso, Nice oak, chocolate. Not overwhelming; quite drinkable for this style. Mild hops in the background. nice body. Very good...will buy again.

Bottle. Pours close to black with a tan head. Roasted aroma, with coffee, wood, and sweet chocolate. Medium/full body. Flavor is again roasted malt, but also has a pretty solid hop presence. Notes of burnt wood, coffee, vanilla, and sweet chocolate. Very nice.

HAS A SLIGHTLY SWEET SMELL. THE SMOKED BARREL GIVE IT A TASTE MORE LIKE A FINE RED WINE. IT IS SLIGHTLY CARBONATED WITH A HIGH ALCOHOL CONTENT. NICE ON ON WINDY AUTUMN NIGHT.
